"Hurry Ethan, we're going to be late for school" Yelled Emma from down the stairs.

"I'm coming, give me a minute!" I responded. I hated how Emma was always rushing me. Her voice sounded irritating to my ears when she told me what to do, but I still loved her.

This was the fourth day living on Emma's house. It felt weird living with one of your best friends. Not the bad disgusted weird but a good weird. I really liked living with them. Her parents were simple and nice. No fights or yelling at night, no strict rules on you, no stress. They seemed peaceful and kind. Her parents at least made the effort to make you feel safe and cared for which was a feeling I rarely felt around my parents.

"I'm waiting Ethan!" Yelled Emma once again.

"Give me one second" I yelled back. Ugh! how many times do I have to tell her to wait.

"Okay" She responded.

I took my backpack and my jacket. For some reason, it was starting to get really cold outside. Maybe because it was beginning to be winter in the surface, it is November and we're in Colorado so it must be really cold.

Well, I rushed down the stairs and walked towards the kitchen. To my surprise Emma was sitting eating her breakfast normally.

"Umm, I thought we were on a rush" I pointed out while giving her a weird face.

"I was just kidding, come sit down and eat your breakfast" She said.
My head got red for a second. She literally rushed me, I didn't even fixed my bed hair.

"I hate you Emma" I told her while putting a fake smile on my face.

"I know" she responded.

I walked over to the brown and round table and sat opposite to Emma.

"Hey Ethan" said Mrs. Waltz, Emma's mom, "How was your sleep?".

"It was good, thanks" I responded. It was actually the best night I had in a while. There was no yelling keeping me up all night so it was really good.

"That's good" she said back. She then looked over at me and handed me a plate of hot bacon and fresh pancakes.

"You're mom came earlier in the morning to see how you're doing" She stated while handing me a cup of milk.

My mom keeps coming every morning after I moved into Emma's house. Although Emma's house is technically next to my house, I try to avoid her as much as I can.

I did sneak in two days ago to get my school work, computer, and some clothes and I almost got caught by her. She knew I didn't want to see her and she tried to keep her distance, but I could tell she didn't want to let go.

I didn't want to see her and every morning, I would watch her start conversations with Emma's mom from the upstairs window.

"She asked how you're feeling" Mrs. Waltz continued. My mom always asks how I'm feeling or how I'm doing. It's always the same question and I'm tired of hearing it.

I stayed silent.

"So" Emma jumped in to change the conversation, "I'm almost done with my fire training".

"Oh that's cool honey" Mrs. Waltz responded, "How about you Ethan" she asked me.

"I had my water bending test yesterday and I passed. I'm starting my Earth training today" I responded. I didn't sound that much excited but I was so relieved to have finished that class. I didn't have to see Nick's ass in the locker room anymore.

"Wow, must be tough to learn all of these elements" She said.

"Yeah, it's hard work" I responded while looking at my clock.
