Brittany sat on her couch, her stereo blaring, as the lyrics, "Listen to your heart when he's calling for you, listen to your heart there's nothing else you can do..." reached her ears. She got up and turned off the stereo, not wanting to hear the words, after she had just broken up with her boyfriend Kai last night.
A knock at her door, startled her, she hadn't invited anyone over. Hoping if she didn't answer the person would go away, she stood where she was at. "Miami, open this door, I know you are in there." It was her friend Akira. She had probably just been told what happened, and was checking on Brittany.
"Akira, what do you want?" Brittany asks, opening the door.
"We need to talk now." Akira says, walking in and sitting down. "Why did you break up with Kai?"
"I just need my space for a while." Brittany replies, "Why do you care so much?"
"You are both my friends, and you two were so cute together." Akira says, "Miami you two acted so happy together."
"We were." Brittany says.
"So why'd you break up with him?"
"I'm scared. I was scared that if I didn't, then he would," Brittany says.
"Brittany, is that your mind saying that or your heart?" Akira asks, "What does your heart say?"
"I don't know." Brittany says.
"Listen to your heart, then decide." Akira says, "I know you love Kai, and I think that's what scares, but he loves you too. I'm going to go now."
"Bye." Brittany says, as Akira leaves. She sat on the couch for a bit longer, thinking about their conversation, and the grabs her phone, texting Kai Meet at the dance studio in 30 minutes please? We need to talk. Brittany grabbed her car keys from the hook and took off towards to the dance studio. She hadn't been listening to her heart, and knew she had made a mistake last night. Brittany only hoped it wasn't too late.
"Kai, I'm so sorry." Brittany says, as she rushes through the doors and sees him standing there. "I love you, and it scared me, and I talked myself into believing you didn't, instead of listening to my heart, and I'm so sorry."
"Brittany, slow down babe, please?" Kai says, trying to understand what Brittany was saying in such a rush.
"I should have known better, I should have listened to my heart." Brittany says slowing down, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have broke up with you. Will you please forgive me?"
"Yes." Kai says, picking her up and spinning her around. "I love you Brittany. You want to know something?"
"What is that?" She asks, smiling.
"I'm scared too. I've never felt like this about someone before." Kai says, "But I know what my hearts says is true."
"That we're perfect together?" Brittany says.
"Yes, that nad the fact I couldn't love anyone more than I love you." Kai says, kissing her.
"I love you too." Brittany says, as they kiss again.
