Dark clouds appear and obscure my sight. Then everything comes into focus.
A girl stands in the middle of a large room, by a row of neatly made beds. She looks around the room as though it is the last time she would see it. The room was simple and in pristine condition; everything tidy and precise. The walls were white with not so much as a tiny smudge on it. As was the white marble flooring. Almost everything in the room was white and it looked like an experimental lab.
The girl looks at, who seems to be, an eight year old girl and expresses a warm smile, "Don't worry Belle. I'll be fine." The little girl looks down, tears forming in her rich hazel eyes, as she quietly says, "What if something happens to you and... I never see you again?"
The older girl kneels down, allowing her elegant brown hair to fall by her side. She cups her soft, tender hands around the little girls pink rosy cheeks. "We're sisters Belle. No matter what happens, I will always be by your side, my little bluebell. So, even during the hardest of times, I want you to hold that little head of yours up high and find the courage to be brave. Will you do that for me?"
Her sister releases a smile under her teary expression and nods. "Okay Rosanne. I will."
Rosanne reaches for the pocket of her black leather jacket and says, "Hold out your arm." As Belle does so, Rosanne places an exquisite gold bracelet encrusted with emerald and diamond gems, and positions it on Belle's wrist. Belle gently makes a light gasp, "Rosanne, mother gave you this. I-"
"No. It's yours. It was always destined to be in your possession."
Belle's expression turns to confusion. "But, how?"
"At the time, mother was terribly ill and bedridden - these were her last days. She knew that her time was almost up and, as a result, wouldn't be able to bring you up and share the happy memories she really wanted to have with you. In order to make sure that you knew you would always be protected and that she was looking over you, she wanted to leave you something special. The problem was that you were too young to possess the bracelet. So, she entrusted it upon me to give to you when the time was right."
"It looks really pretty, but why is it so special?" The bracelet had captured Belle's focus and she stared at it as though a spell was cast on her.
"Mother never really told me the details; she just simply said that, when the time comes, the bracelet will enable you to achieve great things and overcome many challenges to come."
Belle shook her head, woke from her daze, and smiled. "If mother wanted me to have it, I will always treasure it." Rosanne embraces Belle and the two of them hug each other.
The sisters let go. "I know you will," Rosanne stands up and walks towards the door. "Belle, remember, if you're brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.
With an innocent expression left on her face, Belle looks up at her sister one last time and nods goodbye, wiping a lonely tear escaping her eye.
Everything becomes blurry and fades. Darkness.
