~Prologue~
"You need to protect this boy, Isis. He will prove to need you in a human form." The ageless girl simply nodded. Her soft blond curls bounced on her shoulders and loosely covered chest. Looking at her, she appeared to be 18 or 19; well developed n the right areas, perfect hair, emerald green eyes, soft yet chiseled facial features, 5 foot 8 inches, and couldn't have weighed more than 130. She was skinny but not unattractively so.
Though she appeared to be a young woman, she was young - just born, in fact. The Elder knew it was a lot to ask a fledgling to be a guardian. Let alone in the most physical, tangible form of all. But it was destiny. The Elder knew. He had a message that as soon as she was born, the one they called Isis must fulfill her duties - must guard this boy. Why him, no one knew. But it was in the stars.
"You do understand that you will age as they do, correct?" The Elder's booming voice was full of skepticism.
"I do," the young one called Isis had a voice that rang like Christmas bells.
As soon as The Elder knew she understood, he touched her wrist, permitting her to leave.

That same day, a beautiful woman in her mid-30's, praying for a baby for 10 years, infertile, went to the hospital in labour. She hoped to God her baby would be healthy. This was the furthest along she'd ever been in a pregnancy. She was scared, but stayed strong. Her nerdy, but kind and handsome husband was terrified too; shaking in his boots. But he simply held his lovely wife's hand as she screamed from the pains of labour. The epidural did little to help.
Finally, 12 hours later the doctor handed a small, blond baby to the exhausted brown-eyed woman. "Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Hollow. She's perfectly healthy. Do you have a name picked out?" The woman presumed to be Mrs. Hollow didn't pick names, afraid to get attached again and possibly lose the baby, so she requested some time for consultation with her trusty sidekick and best friend - the nerdy man kissing her baby's forehead.
The doctor left the room as soon as another woman entered, holding a 2 month-old baby boy. This baby boy was blond too, with ice blue eyes. The new woman approached, bringing the baby boy closer. The little boy looked at the newborn quizically and touched her cheek as if he wasn't just 2 months old. Immediately it was a bonding moment. The lives of the 2 babies were permanently intertwined now.
Mrs. Hollow looked from the babies to her husband, to her best friend from high school - the woman that just entered the room with the baby boy. "Amy..." The other woman looked up from the children. "Her name is Isis. Isis Marie." Upon hearing her name, the baby girl opened her emerald eyes, casting them on the blue-eyed boy, and the bond was sealed. Unbreakable...
