Chapter 4

one week later

"Hello," I asked into the phone.
"Happy Birthday babe! I'm gonna make today extra special. Be ready by 7 I have a whole day planned."
I didn't even get a chance to speak because he hung up before I could.
18, I thought. I'm officially an adult today but for some reason, I didn't feel any older.
I checked the time; 5:30 am!? Wow Ethan was serious. But I wouldn't wanna spoil his plans. I got up and did my normal routine, but curled my hair instead. I picked out a striped dress and dressed it down with a denim jacket and white high top vans.

By 7 I got a text

I quickly grabbed my things and headed out.

At around 8, we had arrived at some really nice restaurant. Ethan ordered for me - lasagna. He knows me so well *sniff, sniff*
While we waited for the food, we talked and talked, laughed, and with each word i felt myself liking Ethan more and more.

Ethan's POV

I felt myself falling for Sarah with every passing second. She's just so beautiful, unlike any other girl I could possibly meet.
"Ethan.." She said pulling me out of my trance.
"Hmm"
"Our foods been here for a few minutes now, and all you've done is stare at me - is there something on my face?" She rushes into her purse to find a mirror.
"No not at all. You just look really pretty," I mentally smack myself. Pretty. Are you in second grade, E?
"Oh, thanks," she smiles, looking down at her lap.
"Well I mean pretty is an understatement. You look gorgeous! Beautiful. Phenomenal really just-"
"Thank you," she says laughing.
I really do ramble when I'm nervous. Nice one.
"Anyway, what did u have planned for today babe," she has no idea what I feel when she calls me that.
"Uhm..I was- well it's a surprise. You'll love it. Well I hope" I need to stop talking. I shut myself up with food.
"Sounds fun, I love surprises," she says, smiling. I love her smile.

When we got into the car, Sarah totally caught me by surprise when she grabbed my hand.
"Ethan, before we go and get lost in one of your crazy adventures, I just wanted to say-"
" I really, really like you," I finished for her.
"Oh, I was gonna say you have pasta sauce on your lip, but uh, I really, really like you too," she said laughing. Wait, do I really.
I looked into the mirror, no sauce in sight.
I turned to Sara and narrowed my eyes at her. She just blew me a kiss.
"Alright, off to our next destination!"
I was taking her to a carnival. I know, I know. HOW CLICHÉ. Whatever. It's this carnival that only comes twice a year and me and Gray used to come when we were little.

Sara's POV
He brought me to a carnival, how sweet. How did he know I love carnivals?! When we got off the car I hugged him tightly. I was caught off guard because out of nowhere, he kissed me. It wasn't like, anything big. But it was our first kiss together. It was magical.

He kissed my nose then we walked off, our hands entangled.
Our first stop was at this really crazy looking roller coaster. I was super excited but Ethan- well he looked like he was about to die. Literally.
"Are you okay, babe?"
"Uhm, yeah. Yeah I'm great. Why?" He asked, obviously trying to look tough.
"Oh nothing," I said smirking. I wrapped my arms around his waist as we waited in line. We stood hugging like this for the remainder of the wait.

Then it was finally time for us to board the ride.
