You Can't Change Me
Chapter Five
-The Shadow People-
I've seen the face you try to hide
Behind the doors, under the sheets
But you are guilty just like me, and none of us are innocent
A cycle of Russian roulette
Sketch In Black And White by Eyes Set To Kill
"Welcome Jane, to your new home." He made a fancy flourish of the room with his hands and for some reason it gave the home more appeal. "Come, I will show you to where training starts every morning at eight sharp, but first I want you to go and change into appropriate training clothes." He signaled with his head for me to proceed back up the stairs. In record time I had went upstairs and took the long walk back into my new room. I slipped on a pair of Nike shorts and a dark purple sports bra underneath as I pulled a loose t-shirt over it. I knew I would end up taking the shirt off but whatever. As I reached the bottom he didn't even wait for a response before he briskly walked through the arch way. If he said training started every day at eight then that meant I had only slept for three hours, I cursed under my breath as I jogged after him.
As we entered under the arch doorway I was met by a huge stainless steel kitchen that had every cabinet painted white which was a contrast to the exterior of the Russian inspired abode. Dark granite covered the extra surface, and I didn't have enough time to fully appreciate it before Afon pushed open a door to the left of the grand kitchen. I immediately heard them before I saw them. Grunts, the smell of sweat, and humor filled chatter hit me as I stepped through the threshold to enter the large room.
Blondie known as Mikey – I preferred Blondie now though – was working a fast combo on the punching bag with his kicks. He was like lightening striking the bag, and it was awesome. Mr. Green-Eyes was working with Camden the Megan-Fox lookalike on some one on one. The raven haired girl Eva and the Grecian looking one Alex were helping each other back to back with a piece of a rectangular gym mat like what me and Noah used. I quickly spotted Brian the gamer without his glasses, on the punching bag. I was slightly surprised because he didn't seem like the fighter type but damn, he had some kick-ass punches. Shelley – the redhead – was working on her upper strength using a York Power cage and alternating with a pull-up and chin-up bar. The girl definitely had some upper strength. I loved seeing a room full of people sweating it up and kicking ass.
Afon then led me across the room, with a few stares following my way as we walked towards the end of the room where the broad shouldered, dark-haired tough guy was. Afon and I soon stood in front of him where there was a good enough space cleared off for us. There wasn't any real equipment where we were so I had an idea that we were doing combative skills.
"Blaze, this is Jane Athan. I want you to train with her. I have a very good feeling it will benefit both of your combative skills." With that line said he briskly walked away and went to who knows where. I knew mafia oriented bosses must have had underground tunnels or passages for quick get-a-ways around this house. They had to or they were stupid not to, and I was pretty sure Afon wasn't dumb since he had this estate on a busy high way and was heavily guarded. Once Afon left I stared at Blaze's dark eyes. I knew Blaze couldn't have been his name just like I knew Mikey probably wasn't Blondie's birth name either. It didn't matter though because now I got to do what I loved…fight.
