Her father shook his head. "You are injured, you need our help. You are breathing hard, I know that your people don't do that after a short dash."
The Lightwood boy looked shocked, as if his ragged breath had just occurred to him."Who are you? Where am I?" His body didn't release the fighting stance.
Chris didn't lower the pistol either. "My name is Chris Argent, and this is my daughter, Allison. My father also lives here. You are in Beacon Hills."
"What state?" He demanded.
"California." A green tint rose into the Lightwood's face. "We told you the truth. Put down the sword and I will put this down so we can talk peacefully. I need you to promise you won't run yet. Beacon Hills is very fragile in its supernatural- er- Downworlder inhabitants."
The boy nodded warily. "Your name, Silver. You are werewolf hunters, I have read a legend about your family." He lowered the sword to his side, his grip still firm. "La bet du geavendon."
Her father holstered his pistol. "Yes. The Beast. That is us. Please, sit." He nodded towards a set of chairs. The Lightwood boy cautiously seated himself and Allison slid down the rest of the stairs to join them, tense as if he would bolt at any second."What is your name?""Alec Lightwood. You are Allison?"
She nodded. "Yes."
Chris leaned on his knees. "How old are you, Alec?"
"Almost eighteen. Why am I here?"
"We found you almost drowned in our river at the height of a storm almost three days ago. After we dragged you out, we brought you here and treated you for injuries."
"Where is my stele?" He demanded.
"I'm sorry, we don't know what that is." They both tensed at his suddenly hostile tone.
"It is a rod, covered in runes like these," He gestured to the patterns on his neck. "It should have been with me."
"We didn't find anything like that." Allison told him. "What do you remeber last?"
"You didn't find anything? No weapons, no witchlights?"
"Um- no you were unarmed." Chris told him, unsure what a witchlight was.
"I can't remember anything. The last thing I know was I was in the New York Institute when there was an alarm on the monitor. I grabbed Jace- and nothing. My Marks have worn off now. I need to call someone, is there a phone I can use?"
Argent stood up. "Of course." He placed there outdated home phone in his hand.
Alec pressed a set of numbers into the phone.
"Hello?"
"Isabelle! Are you okay?"
"Alec?! Is that you?!"
"Yes!" He grinned with relief.
"You are alive?! By the Angel, we thought you were dead!" She was crying over the phone.
"Dead? What happened?! Are you alright? What about Jace?"
"You don't remember?"
"No -I- uh don't remember anything. I washed up in someones river in California. You remember La Bet Du Gevudaun? The descendents, the Argents, dragged me out."
"California? Well there was a Institute alarm on the computer so we all got geared up and went outside. There was a Monrag demon, which we fought, but you were dragged away. We tried to go after you, but it beat us, then fled with you. We were about to send a search party when there was a package on the Institute steps. It was a-" she hiccuped with tears"- piece of your hair with a letter saying that they had you, and if Jace didn't do what they wanted, they would kill you. There was so much blood, over your hair and the note. Jace was about to comply with what they wanted when," her voice turned cold, "the Inquisitor forbade him from doing what they wanted. Jace always breaks rules, you know that, but the Inquisitor put a trapping spell on him to keep him in the Institute. I was going to go by myself, but then there was another note that you were dead and tossed into the ocean." She sobbed
"I am so sorry Isabelle. I don't remember anything."
"I thought you were dead. Just to hear your voice again, I-" she broke off.
Alec rubbed his eyes, concealing the fact that they were filled with tears.
"After Max, I couldn't handle it. I thought Jace was going to be next too. "
"But- what about our parabatai bond?"
"Jace was asleep when he got the note, and he said that he felt the floor give away, like something had shattered within him. Your parabatai rune was this white color, so after three months of searching even we gave up."
Alec glanced at the black parabatai rune on his back. "Three months?"
"Yes. Where are you exactly?! I will be there within an hour, and we can go home."
Alec smiled softly. "Beacon Hills. It is a Downworlder nest. Just north of San Fransisco. I will see you then."
"I love you Alec."
"Love you too Izzy."
The phone clicked off and Alec looked back at the Argents, straightening his spine. "My sister is going to Portal in and take me back to New York. Thank you for your help, but I can go home now."
