"Wow, these are amazing. I still can't figure out how you'd even get a hold of these,"

I was bouncing my foot up and down impatiently.
We were sitting in chairs outside the councilors office.

"Neighbor had a fire. He gave them to me,"

Neighbor had a fire - a fire I accidently set when sneaking in his house trying to steal his comic book collection.

But, hey it worked.

"Yeah, well. Just remember we don't want to get her in too much trouble. I wouldn't even be doing this if it wasn't actually an okayish thing. Comic or no... fantastic 1st editions or no that is," she said gazing at them in awe.

I looked at her.

"Right. Of course,"
Suuuure.

"Okay you can come in now," the councillor said leaning out of her office door.
Her smug look had vanished the moment Angela had walked in confident and ready to testify.
Ever since she looked a bit downcast, and kind of confused.
Luckily she hadn't caught on to why Angela was still fawning over her things.

"Alright remember,"
I began as we started following the councillor in.
"You're my good friend as of two, threeish months ago. Do Not. I repeat DO NOT bring up anything about any boyfriend of mine. The main focus is I was defending you, and your eternally grateful. Got it?"

She looked at me.

"Why'd you lie and tell them about me? Why didn't you just tell them the real reason?"

Fish and crackers! She's smarter than she looks.

"Don't be stupid. I tell them that and they'll have me hauled out of here by noon. No one's simpathetic to boy problems," And for good reasons too. "Now come on. Let's get this over with,"

And we walked in.
