Kelley's POV

I shoved through the door and walked the few paces to my bed, where I quickly collapsed in a wet bundle of clothing and hair. My mind was turning to mush; my vision getting more blurred with every passing second. All I wanted to do was cry, sleep, and maybe cry some more. But I had to do something first.

With all the effort and energy I could muster, I took the white book from my bag and flipped it to the next blank page.

In a red pen, using big curly letters, I wrote everything I needed to tell my shadow.

I am sorry. Thank you.

I didn't remember closing the book and putting it away. All I could see was the ceiling turning into a black fuzz, as the darkness slowly took me.
