Janes pov

My name is Jane Murry. I'm 22, fresh out of university and living in my own house.

I have blue eyes and brown hair that ends at my hips. I'm 5 ft 6 inches. I've got 2 older brothers and a younger sister. Aaron who's 26, has black hair, green eyes while Cade who's 25 has brown hair and blue eyes just like me. Patricia, who's 3 has blonde hair from my grandmother and green eyes.

My parents, still happily married are Trina and Robert Murry. Mums got greenish grey eyes and brown hair and dad has blue eyes and black hair.

We all look quite similar yet different, people would think my siblings were cousins.

Anyways, It was a beautiful sunny day and I decided I would go for a nice walk in the forest near my cottage. I had saved for years for me to buy this cottage, it used to belong to an old couple we met years back at the lake on the other side of the forrest and my siblings and I would come over all the time and give them company.

They had no family left and put the house in my name and I vowed to myself I would pay them every penny the house was worth but I was a week too late when they passed away together by the lake we met them at.

It still bothered me that I wasn't able to show my gratitude though I know they wouldn't have accepted it.

In my thoughts I had been walking for an hour until I hear a cry. I looked around but don't see anyone or anything so I continued to walk.

The cry began to get louder and louder so I walk towards it looking around me for the source of the cries.

Then I see something that broke my heart. I see a little baby about four days old wrapped in a blanket that has leaves and dirt on the floor by a large tree.

I gently pick the baby up and rock him. He suddenly stops crying and looks into my eyes.

His blue eyes looks into my blue eyes and I simply fall in love with him just then. A feeling I couldn't understand wasted over my body like electricity but what was weird was it didn't shock me or hurt me in any way.

So I ignored it.

I call out "anybody here! Helloooo, your baby is here. " I then wait and get no reply. I scan the forest but not a single soul to be seen.

The wind starts to pick up and I huddle the baby in my small jacket. I walk quickly back to my cottage and grap my keys for my silver BMW.

I strap the baby who has no name into my little sisters carseat. In no time I was on the way to the police station to report this missing baby.

I glanced back to see the baby falling asleep in the carseat.

I reach the police station and found a place to park my car. I got out, unstrapped the baby pulling him close to me as he snuggled into my jacket while he slept. His cute little face curling into a smile.

Must have just been a twitch. I'm just overthinking.

I let out a sigh and walked in to find my uncle John in his office doing some paper work.

"Hey uncle Johnny" I smiled.

"Oh Jane! You scared the shit out of me, how nice of you to visit me and you have a baby?!" my uncle asked shocked.

"Uhh uncle he's not my baby. I came here because....." I sat down, took a deep breathe and told him how I found the baby.

Come through think about it, I don't even know then gender of the baby.

"Ohh dear, do you know where he came from or if anything like a letter was left with, I assume him? " uncle John asked me.

"No thats why I'm here I need you to see if you have a report on a missing baby" I explained to him.

"No I'm sorry we have not had a missing baby report in a month and this baby looks about a few days old give or take a week old." my uncle told me with a sad shake of his head.

"I'm going to have to put him up in a care home until someone comes looking for him or reports him missing. Here hand him to me L et me just check him out to see if we must go to the hospital first. We don't know how long he was out there."

I shuddered at the thought of this little guy being out in the forest alone and if I had not seen him who or what would have. My heart rate began to climb at the thought of that.

"Noo we can't put him in a care home" I said quickly. "Do you know how many other babies and children go there and are never adopted or are abused and neglected"

"I know Jane but what can I do?" My uncle took the baby from my hands to have a look at him.

Not even 2.5 seconds later baby boy started screaming loudly in my uncles hands. We both jump in fright not expecting his loud set of lungs.

Panicking my uncle gave him back to me and  instantly the crying stop and he cuddles into me. I smile down at him.

Awhhhhh stoppppp, he's toooo cuteeeee

"It looks like someone does not like to be held by others, you hold him while I have a good look at him." I begin to unwrap the baby and take out the baby grow. My uncle begins to inspect him.

"He looks very healthy for a baby who was just left outside" my uncle informed me. "His fontanelles are not swollen or anything, his eyes are clear, his cord is still intact and clamped. He is definitely under a 5 days old. What person can just leave a baby out there. They don't know what's lurking around these days."

I gasp at the thought and blurted "uncle Johnny can I please adopt him please, please, pleaseeeeee. I just finished university, I can work from home, my cottage is big enough for us and I could use the company. I could take care of him until his mother come back or something" I begged him with my eyes.

Uncle John gave me a sceptical look as he thought about it for what felt like 10 minutes.

"Fine, your parents will kill me but come with me and we will go sign a few papers so you don't have to go through all that long wait to keep him" he says before bringing me into a room and got everything ready.

4 hours later.....

I finally finished signing all the papers that say I'm legally his mother, his new birth certificate in my hands and a baby that is officially mine. I had the pleasure in naming him Xander Josh Murry.
