Chapter 10: Red Rose, Red Blood

When I walked into my second period class I took a seat in the far back corner. Ignoring everyone and everything, I pulled out my phone two text messages from Nate.

<Why did you walk out?> and <I see someone remembers there combat lessons.>

I put my phone away, as I looked up I saw her, the one that cheated on me and bumped me. Rose Red. I felt my blood boil. Why did she come here!? Why do I have to see her again? And Why am I in Math with her. All I knew is I hated seeing her and I hated this class now. Until I saw Nate walk in and sit next to me.

We fist bumped, everyone stared at me and Nate. "The nerd and the Silent kid know each other?" Someone whispered. I pulled out my phone and started texting Nate

Before I could text back the teacher walked in,"Hello class! Today we will watch a video and we have a new student." Really? Again with this crap, I have to go thought all six periods like this? "Jay Willson! Welcome to our class my name is Mrs. Page tell us about yourself."

I said there, then Nate stood up," Mrs. Page, may I talk to you outside?" She and Nate left. Rose looked my way, I pulled out my phone trying to ignore her.

"Hey, Jay...." I looked up it was Rose. I nodded at her. "I'm sorry about what happened, about us, abo-" I cut her off. " I've moved passed it. You should too." I lied, I could tell she knew I wasn't happy seeing her. As she went back to her desk. Part of me wanted her and the other part said "fuck off". After five minutes of wait Mr.Page and Nate returned.

"Sorry about that I was explaining why you won't talk." He whispered into my ear.

"Okay class, sorry about that. So Jay won't talk today or for awhile because of somethings that have come to my attention. I looked at Nate.

"It was I tell her about your family or say you are deaf." He said with a smile.

A student raised his hand. "Yes, Ben?"

"Can we know why?" Ben asked. Mrs. Page looked at me. Causing the whole class to, I shock my head. I'm pretty sure this woman is 67 of 77 because has black and white pictures everywhere. She then said," No, Jay's life is his and if he doesn't want to share then that's fine. Anyways on with the movie." She played a old black and white film of a cartoon.

I put my head down on my desk,"You know I think you will do great here." Nate said as he leaded back into his chair.

"Ya? How so?" I asked.

"Well look at it like this. You have a fresh start anyone can't prove anything. You are the silent new kid. Like in books and stories. You never have to worry about money. And you have no parents telling you what to do." When I heard him say that my eyes widened.

"Take that back."

"Or what? You gonna kill me? On schoo-" I grabbed his neck and lifted him up.
