Crushes always crush. That's what Xavier's always told me, till the first day of freshmen year. Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present Kristina Bold. The badass, stubborn and sarcastic teen. My worst nightmare but Xavier's best dream. Kristina wasn't the emo girl at the back of the classroom who chewed gum nor was she the 'I bunk school and disrespect my parents' badass. I don't know how to describe her sense of 'badass' but I could always use Xavier's words. Robin Hood!

Personally, I preferred Ursula but I guess I could always use that reference later. Have you ever seen Teen Wolf? Yeh, their relationship was more of a 'Stiles and Lydia' season one relationship and it soon became a season four relationship since Shane's 'sudden' death. She needed someone to listen and he needed someone to hear. Sad thing is, it went straight back to season one. How's that for a love story, eh? Oh, well. I've got worse. My love story is dead, literally.

"How about headphones?"

I shook my head.

"How about rings?"

I shook my head again.

"How about a mood ring?"

Disappointed, I shook my head...for the third time.

Xavier was looking for a birthday present for Kristina and believe me. It was hard work.

"Why can't you just get a card? It's not like she's going to use anything yo-"

I stop as soon as I see the hurt feelings through Xavier's eyes. If anything, I should be helping instead of complaining. So, I do. I grab him through the art aisle, passing through notebooks, colouring pencils, paint. Anything and everything related to art. I smile as I grab an art set that has a gray notepad and a pack of colouring pencils. Excitement rises in my face. Disappointment rises in his,

"This."

"But she can't draw...or paint....or do anything with art!"

"But she can sing!"

"And getting her an art set is going to project her voice?"

"No, dumbass. You draw her singing!"

"But...why?"

"Just get the damn thing, Xavier!"

"No! I was meant to get her a present, not myself."

"You get this and it'll make the best present ever!"

"How...?"

They should really make a common sense class.

Grabbing the set off of Xavier's hands, I walk to the counter pay for the art set and grab Xavier with my other hand.

I promise I'm helping.

-----------------------------------------------

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" I've never heard a scream that loud.

"Did that seem as if I'm too excited? How about a casual, 'happy bday Kris' is that okay?"

No, that's not me. That's Xavier practising how to say happy birthday to a girl who wasn't fully noticed him for three and a half years. Honestly, he's reminding me of 11 year old me and you'll never believe how old we are now. For the 100th time I tell him to get out so we can just go to the party.

"Xav, can we please just go! Or we'll be late and if were late...she'd be really disappointed in you! You wouldn't want her to be...disappointed, would you?"

I smile as my tactic worked; he rushed out of the house as fast as a cheetah. Probably faster.

I never really liked parties, especially the non supervised ones, but c'mon. Who would miss out on free drinks and food! Walking through the loud crowd of people, I spot Kristina drinking alone. It's her birthday party, why isn't she dancing or doing something fun? But that's great, I tap Xavier as he looks at my direction. Perfect,
