Shane and I are sat alone on his bed, staring at the ceiling as we wait for either of us to make a move.

He jumps up and brushes my hair away from my face as I lay down and he's on top of  me softly kissing my neck. I giggled and slyly pushed him away.

"No...nope. Shane, babe. I don't-"

He cuts me off, "you don't want it with me?"

I kiss him softly before I carry on, "No, of course I do just...I wanna wait till you know"

He looks confused before he takes a second to realize what I meant. "You follow the book. Virgin Mary, right? Of course you are."

I scoff and shove him off playfully sitting up, questioning him. "Uh, what's that supposed to mean?"

"Nah, nothing. Just pretty girl, quiet and keeps to herself. Knows every line of Romeo & Juliet. Of course she's waiting till marriage."

I take a minute to reply, gulp before I let out my words. "And you're okay with that?"

He smiles and looks up at me.

"You are such a cliche, Adria Colburn"

Xavier had been staying at my place for two days now and as much as I loved having him here. He couldn't keep sleeping on the couch and one day he would have to sort it with his Dad.

I ran down the stairs to see him just waking up.

"Really? It's 4pm Xav." I lecture him,

"Shit. Sorry, need help?" He asked as he saw me getting breakfast ready.

"Yes, please."

He gets up, stretching and yawning and makes his way to the counter as I get out the eggs and he gets the pan ready.

"Xav. You know there's space in my room? You don't need to bunk on the couch." I say to him, cracking the eggs.

He grabs for a spoon and replies, "I know, thanks. Just want a bit of light, you know? It's dark in your room"

"Can you still not sleep with complete darkness? If you're getting nightmares agai-"

He drops the spoon on the table, stern his voice replies. "Stop. I don't want to talk about it okay. Can we just make the egg in quiet?"

I sit up on the counter and ask him not taking into account what he'd just said, "You never told me what happened to her. Just speak to me...what happened to your mum?"

Xavier's POV:

Adria and I have known each other years. Friends for all of those years too but never have I told her what happened to mum.

It was too traumatic. I was only seven.

I look around trying to keep my eyes occupied while I replied to her.

"Seven years old. I heard her scream, it was midnight and I just saw her body lying there. I didn't know what to do so I just stared until maybe she would move. Until Dad woke up and he went to her side. It was too late. If I had just woke him up earlier- I-it was my fault. It was so dark, that's all I-"

Tears quickly fell as I tried to carry on but couldn't.

Adria's POV:

I hated seeing my best friend distraught. It reminded me of how strong I need to be for him but it's not so simple.

I kept thinking about that night in the woods and Kristina. I couldn't remember anything.

Why couldn't I remember anything...
