I was pretty sure I was dead.
But I still felt pain.
I'm pretty sure I felt a hand or something grasping mine. It might have been my imagination, or it might be God or something.
Wow, I am so sad.
I couldn't open my eyes, they were glued shut from a long sleep. I groaned quietly, and the hand grasping mine stiffened.
"C-Corin?" A voice interrupted my thoughts as I twitched and moaned again.
"Are you God?"
"Well... I wouldn't like to brag but-"
"Mark? Is that you?" I finally found the strength to open my eyes and blinked repeatedly at Mark, who was hovering over me, a large smile on his face.
"Hey, Sunshine." He said quietly. I was so confused. But then the pain... the real pain started and I cried out loudly.
Mark shushed me quietly and stroked my hair."Mark? What happened?" I wheezed, flexing my sore fingers.
"You... were... uh... crushed by the Rover. A lot of damage, you're gonna have to lie in bed for a while before you get better." I furrowed my brows.
"Damage status?" I asked, concern taking over.
"Both of your legs are smashed, pretty sure your pelvis is jacked up too and maybe a couple or few broken ribs." Watney whispered sadly, and I gasped audibly, the movement making me groan.
"Oh... shit."
"It's ok, you've got me!" Mark cheered, and I have him a disapproving look. I groaned again and my hands flew to the bedsheets. Mark protested, but I ignored him and looked at my body, which was covered in sickly purple and green bruises that covered my whole lower body. I worked my toes and flinched.
I had a somewhat high pain tolerance, I was trained to. But, this was the worst pain I had ever been in. The flat surface of the Rover marked my ribs, and I wondered aloud how Mark got me out.
"Well... after the Rover toppled over, I ran to you and used the wind, which began blowing in the other direction at this point, to push off the Rover. After a while, I picked you up and carried you back to the Hab. I am so heroic."
