Aren't birthdays supposed to be happy? Well mine sure as hell isn't. But then again, it was never made a rule that birthdays are supposed to be happy.

"Prepare for take off."

I groaned at the sound of the womans voice over the intercom. This is the birthday present I recived. A big box of what used to be my room, and a for sale sign in my front yard. I don't blame mom for wanting to leave though, after all our memories there aren't the best. But in my opinion, she didn't have to go as far as to re-marry and move to a different country. I'll admit New York's not exactly wonderful, infact its way to crowded, but a small town like Neah Bay, where I know absolutely no one, sounds wonderful. Note the sarcasm.

"Ouch!" I yelled before turning in my seat and looking at the little kid sitting behind me. "Look buddy, I'm trying to sleep so please stop kicking my seat." I said sweetly. 'Wow. That rymed.' "No! What if I don't want to Freak!?" He shouted back. I frowned and turned to face the front again, or the window I should say. Stupid kid, I thought to myself. Hey, ever notice how tiny people are when your sitting in a plane? "Sigh." Speaking of planes, four more hours on this one to go. "Ouch! CRAP THAT HURT!" I yelled as the kid kicked my seat again. Turning around in my seat, I glared at the little blond hared twerp behind me. "Look kid! I'm really having a bad day, wait no a bad week, and I really would appreciate it if you stopped kicking my seat, thank you very much!" The boy started laughing and replied, "You know what I would appreciate? I would appreciate it if you turned your big ugly face around so I don't have to look at you anymore!" My jaw dropped. 'What the heck? What are parents teaching there children exactly?' "OK just stop kicking my damn seat already!" I yelled at the now scared looking boy.

My mom gave me 'the look' and whisper-yelled, "Avery Marie White! Don't you ever use that language around me Missy!" "Fine" I mumbled. I took out my I pod and shuffled through the songs, then started to blast the loudest song I had on it after shoving in my earbuds. Sleep was obviously hard to come by, always has been, and the constant kicking of my seat didn't quite help. But, minutes passed and my eyes drifted shut, I had finally fallen asleep. Though as usual, I kinda wish I didn't. I dreamed of my dad. Of the day he lost me at the park.

"Ave? Ave? Were are you?" He called. "I'm here daddy!! Haha I scared you!" The younger me said from my hiding spot under the slide. "yes you did! Haha come on its time to go home silly!" He answered, sighing in relief. I held his hand as he pulled me up on my feet. "Well well! If it isn't Will White." Sneered a tall bulky man behind daddy. Daddy glared at the man and turned to me. "Get in the car hun. I'll be back. I just have to talk to..." he paused, "an old friend." I saw fear in daddy's eyes. Daddy was never scared, not even of the dark. "Ok daddy. I love you." I whispered in daddy's ear so the scary man behind him wouldn't hear. I walked down the street up to the car and climbed in on  my hands and knees. Being the good girl daddy always said I was, I sat in the car and waited, fiddling with the stuffed toy Daddy had got me for Christmas. My head snapped up when I heard the gun shot.

"Daddy?" I whispered. No answer. I quickly crawled under the seat of the car and clutched the toy to my chest. I don't know how long I was there but when I woke up, there was a police man knocking on the window. "Are you OK miss? Don't worry I wont hurt you, I just want to drive you home." He drove me home in silence and when we got home my mom answered the door crying. "My baby! My poor baby!" she cried wile hugging me. "mama wheres daddy?" I asked. She just held me tighter and bawled.
