Rants and Other Shit

i finally watched allegiant and i hated it

i bet  a lot of us read YA books. and we love them. apart from having some of the best characters, we get to step into magical worlds, apocalyptic futures, dystopian worlds and worlds just like ours even.

if you read these kind of books you are familiar with the divergent series.

the first book was good. the second one was a bit troubling with tris and four's rather rocky relationship. the third was a book that was not so fantastic with it's weird theory on genetics but let's leave the science bits alone. the book became so weird that i dont think the author had a mother option but to kill three favorite characters just to make it worth the read. RIP Tris, Tori and Uriah. but  i will say that four was okay. it was nice to get in his head. but that totally changed my perspective of him and i dont know whether that made him better or that made him less good.

as most books are becoming movies and series, i at first was stoked to see this hit the big screen.but the movies have strayed too far from the books. the divergent series at this point is nothing like what veronica roth wrote but is even worse.  

a lot of characters were not in the first movie like peters crew, edward,sarah and robert, zeke, shauna etc. even though characters like edward are important to the series, it is understandable that not all characters make it to the screen. but these characters were roughly introduced into the second movie. they were just thrown in. for example, lynn, marlene and uriah. i am not sure if people who didn't read the book even know who she is in the whole series. 

rosa salazar and suki waterhouse play lynn and marlene respectively. 

knowing the plot doesn't even help anymore. it just destroys the movie further for fans. with the introduction of that box and sex scene in insurgent, i knew there was a problem.

the director put in all of his new ideas that are very weird and alien to the book and this would have been fine if this whole thing was not coming from a book. 

and he strays away further with allegiant.

in the above picture we see our heroes crawling up a wall. wtf? in the book they drove/used a train/ran thru a field to get to the other  side. and also those weird  crafts they day in. i recall them using airplanes.

and beatrice never went to whatever a 'providence' is. the movie took away the meaning of the third bookend ripped off the whole series. it isn't about the book. it is someone else's idea based off the book. and too bad that idea cost a lot of money and time. and at the end of the whole thing, i feel like we dont even need ascendant. allegiant pretty much finished the whole thing off for me. it looks like the series is done. i mean what they showed happens in the second section of the book. the first section of the book would have made a great movie but it is too late for that. plus we got that happy tris and four ending right?

in my honest opinion, let us stop here with the the divergent series.
