Jack's P.O.V
Putting furniture in rooms? Actually not as boring as I thought it would be. I was beginning to think maybe I had the worst chore to do for the preparation of the new guardians coming as soon as I stepped foot in the furniture room.
Dang. That place was huge. I could fly loop-ty loops in there. Which, of course, I did, at the cost of a headache from ramming my head into a few lamps and a bedpost.
But then I saw the size of the furniture. King sized beds with canopies, wardrobes taller and much wider than North, chairs and sofas with thickly padded cushions, a really tall totem statue. Not gonna lie, I was a bit tempted to put that statue in one of the new rooms, just to see the reaction of its owner.
But then I thought, "How am I gonna move all this into the rooms?" I asked North, who then came up with an interesting solution.
"Jack, you know how I can go into the chiminies easily, da? Well I have magical powder that does same thing. Sprinkle this-" He plopped a small leather bag the size of my palm into my hand. It was tied with some string and was bulging. "-onto furniture and it will shrink for few minutes. That way you can easily carry them through door and place it where you please. I borrowed some sand from Sandy and did a few tweaks and wa-la! Shrinking sand!" He chuckled with that old gleam in his eyes. It soon went away, though, and North went back to his book shelf. There were two different piles on his desk now. Six books on one pile, two on the other.
So I went back to the furniture room, a bit skeptical about the "magic powder," but if North said it worked, that was good enough for me. He's the best inventor I've ever met.
I opened up the bag. Inside was sand that looked almost exactly like Sandy's, except it didn't glow as brightly. I grabbed a pinch-ful of it and threw it on a nearby king sized bed. It instantly shrunk down until it looked like it could fit into a doll house. Laughing, I leaned my staff against the wall and went over and picked up the tiny bed, examining it.
"Awesome!" I exclaimed. I flew into one of the nearby rooms, clutching the tiny bed in one hand and the pouch of sand in the other. I placed the bed against the wall next to the door, the foot of it facing the balcony doors, and waited.
A minute later, I got bored. This was taking too long. I flew back into the furniture room and shrunk down a wardrobe, a bedside table (even though I had no trouble carrying it before I shrunk it), one of those old oil lamps, and a record player. Hey, why not? Everyone could use a little music.
I scooped everything up in my hands and went back into the room where I put the bed. The bed grew back to its normal size already. I was a bit bummed that I missed its transformation, but I arranged all the other furniture around the room. The bedside table went, of course, beside the bed, with the lamp on it. The wardrobe went against the wall to thhe right and the record player went in the corner next to the balcony doors.
It went like this for about 10 minutes, with the same exact furniture in the same exact places in each room. Tooth helped me when she was done cleaning the last room, making sure I didn't "abuse the use of the shrinking powder." When all the furniture grew back to their normal sizes, I made sure to plug in each record player (who knew North had outlets here?) and grabbed a giant stack of random records from the furniture room, placing them beside each player.
When we were finally done, I noticed that the pouch with the shrinking powder was almost half full. Making sure Tooth wasn't looking, I slipped it into my hoodie pocket with a smirk. Then I noticed that we have just cleaned and furnished six rooms...
