Tootsie was going to have to get used to her new name. She hated it so much. But she couldn't change it. Her parents had already filled out the paper work. It was done.

Tootsie tried getting her mind off of it. two days later she went back over to her new friend's house. Their names were Gaby and Georgie. Gaby reminded Tootsie of her old friends at school.

That day they decided to go further down the road to the end of the gate. Along the road where herds of cattle farmers were raising. Tootsie was a little nervous around the bulls. Even though there was barb wire fence the bull could charge through if he really wanted to. And Georgie wasn't helping by waving his arms around shouting at the cows.

"George. Shut up." Gaby said. She knew Tootsie was getting tense.

They continued on their way to the end of the road. There was a gate at the dead end that the farmers used to get in and out of the field. When the three looked at the fence they couldn't believe their eyes.

A calf, around as tall as Georgie, was on the opposite side of the fence. It had been locked out.

The two stayed on theirs as Tootsie leaped off her bike, and ran to the gate. She didn't pay any attention to the calf moaning for its mother.

The gate was locked, so she couldn't open it. She didn't know how to help the little calf. She didn't know what to do until she saw the calf charge the fence. That was when Tootsie noticed how big it was compared to her. And the fact that the calf won't let anything get between him and his mother.

Inside, she panicked. The calf was also between her and her bike. She hadn't realized until now how dangerous the calf was to her. She new Gaby and Georgie weren't coming to her rescue, so she only did what she could.

"Back away slowly...." She said out loud. The calf charged it again.

"RUN!!!" She screamed, and bolted past it and leaped onto her bike.

"Pedal like there's no tomorrow! ESPECIALLY FOR THE CALF!!" Tootsie screamed. She knew there were coyotes out there, and the calf didn't stand a chance to a whole pack of them.

Their only hope was to get home and call the owner of the cattle. They would have to hurry before the calf did anything to hurt itself.

As they peddled, Georgie peddled slower, and was soon almost out of site from the girls.

When they went down the last huge hill, Georgie was the last to come down. What the two didn't know was that there had been a dip in the gravel that Georgie hadn't seen.

Tootsie brought her bike to a halt. She thought she herd screaming. She turned around, and what she saw filled her with even more panic.

Georgie had flipped on his bike. he literally did cart wheels. He had burst into tears from his injuries.

Tootsie dropped her bike and sprinted to him. Gaby had also turned around and saw it. She peddled back to the house to get the first aid kit.

When Tootsie reached him, she felt the ground rumble. She turned, and saw an OIL TRUCK coming their way! It barely dodged Tootsie's bike that lay in the middle of the road.

The two jumped to their feet and ran to the side of the road. When it passed, Tootsie could make out Gaby coming with bandages in hand.
