The True Prophecy

Werlina walked in her usual calm composure as though nothing happened. She quietly walked upto me and her deep brown eyes scanned me. But her usual set of wise brown eyes did not look calm, they looked as though she was worried.

"Werlina , what happened out there ? Why was there a sudden attack from the Nerezza?" I asked , without letting her open her mouth. This was a thought that  perhaps ran through all of our minds.

"The Nerezzas were looking for something." She answer , her mind it seemed was conflicted. She seemed to know a lot more than she said and I feared the worst.

I was curious to know what possibly could the Nerezza want from us. "Looking for something ? What could they be looking for ?" My heart was pounding in fear of what Werlina might say next.

"The true prophecy." Werlina stated simply as she walked out and addressed the assembly who by the way was too shocked by my outburst that one could hear a pin drop.

"Members of the 8th Union ! I , on behalf of the citizens and royalty of Aramanda,  apologise for the event that occurred a few moments ago. I assure you , we will find the young Prince as soon as possible." Werlina spoke , her voice loud and clear enough for all to hear.

"Will he be dead or alive ? How can we trust you when you couldn't even take care of your own offspring? " cried out of the individuals in the crowd , and the rest agreed to his statement with a cry of assent.

My Father looked helpless , my brothers were mocked at by the other members of the crowd. Their heads hung low in shame , already most members of the 8th Union were reluctant to come to Aramanda, ever since the dark activities began. This event of abduction just added fuel to the fire. It felt to wrong to see the citizens of a great nation, be mocked and that too because of a sister who wasn't willing to win a nation but power.

My father along with Queen Apolla were humiliated in the worst way possible for a royalty. My adolescent brothers had to endure the shame of being the Princes of a kingdom with conflicts , before my very eyes. I couldn't bare the thought of being an integral part of this situation. It was because of power that two people of the same blood were separated.

"You have my word of honour." I spoke up , not bring able to hold on any longer.

"What honour do you have , daughter of Eve ?  Your kind , are also a part of our families but they haven't caused a war such as yours. The greatest shame a princess can bring to a family is to fight a war. You have brought it upon them." said someone from the crowds.

"Sir, I suppose what you fear is that if a woman fights a battle , the battle is a lost case but I assure young sir that I won't let you down." I said. My eyes gazed at the crowd , trying to find the source of the accusation.

"We will see ." King Jacob stated with a scornful look in his eyes.

"But why him ?" I asked out of sheer curiosity and fury. Werlina obviously knew more about me than I did myself and I am certain that she knows very well that I fully disapprove of Daniel coming with me on this quest.

"Esther,  my motive is to keep you safe. I know you can take care of yourself but Daniel can't stay in the castle with us at any cost. I'm sure you'll thank me later." She spoke with confidence.

We had just decided on who to accompany me on this quest. I really didn't want
Dan-iel to come with me for obvious reasons but Werlina insisted that I did. I trust Werlina's decisions and therefore I agreed to take Daniel with me.

I planned on taking Jenifer with me because I knew she took wise decisions and I'd definitely be needing advise. Jason was a companion and a good swordsman, he and I had been getting along pretty well since I actually talked to him. My two brothers refused to leave me alone in the company of two other boys and they were added onto the the list almost immediately. Dan was Werlina's choice.

Debra , Kierra , Tiffany and Silvia were to stay in the castle with the rest of the boys. Those who had been part of the royal training before I was found were now to be added into the royal council once I took over the throne.

Werlina took me back to the throne room, where the guests were refusing to go without knowing who went on a quest with me. I really do not know how it concerns them (other than King Jacob and his family).

"Those who are to accompany me on this quest are the following -
Jenifer , lady of Aramanda. Prince John and Prince Christopher,  royals of Aramanda. Daniel , Lostoringian Lord and Jason , Lostoringian Lord." I announced but I was immediately cut off.

"I refuse to go anywhere without Silvia." Dan spoke , his voice was so familiar and full of pompous authority. But as soon as my brain interpreted these words it seemed as though a huge rock had dropped in my heart.

Dan and I had been friends ever since I remembered. All my memories are composed of our little adventures. My childhood was linked to his in a very strong bond. I couldn't understand how , he could ignore me , how he had the guts to speak of me as a whimpering child. The oldest memory,  I ever had , flashed before my eyes.

My blurry eyes looked down on my feet , in shame and regret. They laughed at my dark skin and mocked my ability to fight with a sword. I ran as far as I could and I found myself sitting near my favourite oak tree and crying my eyes out. 

"Esther ?" Daniel called , he came nor very soon after I had seated myself. He looked concerned but that was all my blurry eyes could make out.

I looked up at him in response.

"What happened? " He asked seating himself beside me.

"Silvia and the others .... made ..... made ....." I tried to say but I choked.

"Made fun of you ? Of your skin ?"

I merely nodded,  I did not trust my voice at all.

"Hey , there's no need to cry. They don't realise your special and beautiful in your own way." He tried to explain.

I sobbed even more. "So that means I am different. I don't belong here."

"No. You belong here just as much as nature belongs to the Earth.  You are you unique, isn't that wonderful ? Your names means 'star'  where as Silvia means 'forest' you are higher than them Esther. High up in the sky." He said with a smile.

"Dan, will you ever treat me like they do ?"

"Never in a million years."

"Will always be my friend ? Will you always stay by my side ? Will you stick with me through thick and thin ?"

"In saecula saeculorum, Always and Forever ."

I returned to the present with a jolt but I could never forget that incident. I looked up at Daniel and Silvia, the other royals just stared at me waiting for a response.

"Very well" I breathed
