I Think I Love Something That Isn't Real

The warmth from his skin was burning through my shirt; he was warm but no matter how close he was I didn’t sweat. I could feel him holding me and rubbing over my face in the middle of the night, I could hear him whispering how much he loved me. That had to have been the best sleep I had in weeks, and to think all I needed was him there. I woke up and had completely forgotten about school, and what my mom and dad had said.

I rolled him off the bed and hurried up and fixed the covers. He got up and looked at me confused.

“Why are you in such a rush?” He said groggily.

“David came in last night and told my mom and dad that you were the one who did this to me, so now they don’t want me to be with you alone”

He pulled his shirt over him. “Do you want me to leave or drive you to school?”

“You drove here?” I asked more excited than I should have.

“Yeah, but your dad will be up any minute now; I think I will go start it”

I kissed him. “Thank you, I will be down in a minute”

He jumped from my window and headed around to his car; just as I opened my door my dad came walking out in the hallway. He smiled at me and made his way down the stairs.

“Morning, you seem a little excited”

“Got to get to school dad” I said running down the stairs.

Tyler honked the horn.

“Who’s that?”

I opened the door and yelled back. “David decided to pick me up”

I ran to the car threw my seat belt on and finally took in a deep breath. Tyler looked at me and chuckled. He backed out of the drive way and off we went to school.

“I hope you know I am confronting David”

I dug through my bag. “Please don’t do that, your just going to get in more trouble”

“I don’t care, he needs to stay away from you, you’re my girl not his”

“Listen I am not a trophy, and I don’t want to be treated like one either”

He grabbed my hand. “I’m sorry forgive me; I love you, and I just want him to realize that we are together now”

“Tyler I don’t think you should, just please don’t do that” I begged him.

“If it means that much to you then I won’t, but you better warn him if he doesn’t stay away his pretty face is going to get busted up badly”

“Do you enjoy making my life complicated?” I asked looking at him.

“Guess I should have given you the guidelines of what happens when you sign up to be with me” He said chuckling.

“I guess so, because if it involved running from killers and threatening my friends I probably wouldn’t have signed up for it” I said laughing.

He paused and looked at me. “Yeah you would; you can’t resist me”

We finally arrived; I could feel everyone looking at us as we got out of the car. We had definitely made a statement, and we really angered his friends.

“They’ll get over it, they all know the situation”

“How about Kelsey, is she going to kill me?”

He laughed at me. “No, she understands”

I walked off towards my class and Tyler was right, because there Kelsey was walking towards me all smiles keeping a look out as we walked to class. It was nice for once not to feel terrified of her. Mr. Marlow walked in and told the class that we would be going on a field trip Thursday which our parents would have to sign our forms stating we could go to the local park for a project. I hated having to go to measure angles and all that, it was one of those fieldtrips that you would fake an illness for, just so you wouldn’t have to go.
