Dan's secret

Dan's family has invited us to have dinner. We get dressed a little elegant not much, but elegant.

You know... the elegant casual... You girls understand me!

My mum is nervous, my dad doesn't care much about it, my sister (as she always is) with her headphones and my brother shouting and playing around. Me, waiting on the door yelling...

"Oh gosh!! Can you people please hurry up!! We're getting late and it's only three steps from us!"

Nothing, no one moves...

"Well I'm going alone..." I don't really want to go actually... But they've invited us and I really like having conversations with Nat, I always learn something interesting and she's getting friends with my mum so...

"Ok everyone, lets have fun!" Yeah mom, fun is just the word that fits perfectly with an awkward situation with Dan, after having dinner, when you adults always kick us away from the table and talk about stuff, without children, of course.

"Well... Arthur and I will be back home early, I'm exhausted and this little boy won't last the whole dinner." Lucy really seems tiered or perhaps she's just acting, it wouldn't  be strange...

Here we go. Put everything in order, my hair, clothes... And the door opens just in time.

"¡¡BIENVENIDOS!! (WELCOME!!)" Nat receives us with a big smile and let us in, it's funny the strong accent she has when she talks in Spanish.

Again Dan's dad didn't seem to be home. And he never talks about him nether.

"Hey! Wow you're beautiful..." Dan grabs my hand and turns me, I blush so much that my cheeks right now are in flames.

"Thanks, you aren't bad either." Fail. That's so cheesy...

"Have a seat" The table is awesome, it's decorated with a light blue tablecloth and has some dark blue flowers in the middle. I love blue, it's my favorite color!

We all serve a little bit of food, and the typical conversation arrives, that means that I'll need to stop eating for a couple of minutes to talk about...

"So, Kam you haven't told me yet, what do you want to be when you grow up?"As I said, typical question.

"Actually I don't know... I think I'll try see if I can work in the cinema world, no need to be Hollywood but I would love to. But I need to think about it."

"Wow! That's so cool!"

Now my parents turn...

"And you Dan?"

Why? Why asking this now? Does the carrier that we're going to study has something in common with the salad just in front of us!?

"Uh... Well I'm very sure about it." Pause " I'm going to be a marine." I knew it, well I've heard it in conversations and in jokes Jack and Tris use to make him but... Didn't really thought he is so sure about it.

"That's impressive!" My dad really seems interested about it. "And why is that? Hard work there man..."

Oh dad... Please don't try to sound like a teenager, please.
