Lucas' POV

There.
I'd said it.

She looked up at me with her tear filled eyes, her blue eyes glistening.

"I... I..." She seemed at a loss for words.

"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have-"

"No, don't be sorry" she attempted a smile.

"Lu-cas" A voice mused, "you've just broken the first Angelic Law"

I clenched my jaw and turned around to see Taylor perched on a wall.
"You really shouldn't have told her"

Skylar gripped my arm, I narrowed my eyes.

"You're early" I said, "this isn't the 364th Day yet"

He shrugged, jumping down onto the ground.

"It'll be better with an audience that can't bear to see you die, and will emotionally break when you do" he grinned, cracking his knuckles.

So this was a challenge huh?

I stood up and pulled Skylar behind me.
"Stay out of the way" I whispered, she nodded and bit her lip.

Taylor slowly advanced on us, his face contorted in an evil smile.

"So, you're protecting the girl?" He said, inches from my face.
"Leave her out of this. This is between you and me" I hissed.

He shrugged and his fist came flying through the air at me. I blocked it with my hand and kicked at his leg. He growled and rammed his shoulder into my chest, winding me slightly.

We locked arms and began wrestling eachother. I glanced at Skylar to check if she was alright and I was thrown to the ground. I felt my newly-healed ribs crack and winced in pain.

Taylor leapt on top of me and pinned me down. I guess from a distance it would look like a scene from a really gay film.

I struggled underneath him. He drew his fist back and threw it forward. It connected with my nose and I heard, and felt, another crack. Blood trickled down my face and into my mouth. I spat and tried anything, to get free from his grasp.

I shook my leg free and kicked his knee hard. He yelped and I shoved him off, slowly drawing back to a stand.

Taylor's face went stone cold, and from his pocket he drew a long, white knife.

I gasped.

"How... How did you get that?!"

He said nothing and grinned, holding the Angelic Blade by his side. He lunged for me, swinging the knife dangerously close to my throat.

"Lucas!!" Skylar screamed.

"Go! Now!" I cried out hoarsely, trying to evade the knife as best as I could.

"Nah ya don't" Taylor said, and with lightning speed, slammed Skylar up against a wall by her neck, the knife held against her throat.

"Lu... cas..." She choked, I stood, in shock.

"Try anything and I'll slit her throat" Taylor snarled, I recoiled.

"Let her go! This isn't her fight!" I argued, searching for anything I could use as a weapon.

"Nah, but if I kill her in front if you, then I won't let you die until you have to, and so you'll spend the last few days of your life heartbroken, and insane"

He pressed the knife into her throat harder, she screamed in pain as blood formed and began running down her neck.

What could I do?

What could a cowardly, weak guy like me do?

"Please let her go! Hurt me all you want but don't hurt her!" I shouted, he frowned.

"You know what? I'd rather not. It's fun to watch you suffer like you did to me" he growled.

I lunged, managing to pull his arm away before he could slit her throat. He pushed me forward and slammed me into her. Her head smacked against the wall and she crumpled onto the ground below us, unconscious.

"You little bastard!" I screamed, punching him right in the chest.

He staggered back and gripped his knife tighter. I stormed towards him, my anger fuelling me.

This time is was me who backed him up against a wall.

"If you DARE touch her, I swear I'm going to kill you"

I stepped back. He rolled his eyes and walked off.

I picked Skylar up off the ground and felt for a pulse.

Her heart was beating, that was all that mattered.
