"Josh is stable. But he is still very very weak. He will be here for 2-6 months." The doctor said he then got up and walked into the pair of automatic doors.
I was relieved. But terrified. Josh was okay. But he may not end up okay. What would happen to Josh? My brother. My best friend. And most of all, my superhero. Who would protect me?
We walked for at least a good five minutes to get to his room. Or at least it felt like it. Do you know how when something really bad (like a car accident) happens to you and as soon as the car hits you everything goes in slow motion? Or in TV when something bad is about to happen to your favorite character and the ominous music comes on and it is slow motion? Well that is how this feels. I just want to see him. I need to see him.
We stopped in front of the door that the doctor told us to go to. Everyone else walked in,but I stayed out for a minute.
Okay, Addison. He is going to be very messed up. He is going to be colorless, weak, and look almost life-less. Be prepared. DO. NOT. CRY. NO MORE CRYING.
I tell myself silently. I take a deep breath and grab the door handle. I slowly turn it and put my head down before I open the door. When I close the door after I enter the room, I slowly put my head up. My eyes start to sting and get watery. NO! WE TALKED ABOUT THIS! NO CRYING! Well that didn't work at all. The tears begin to fall like Niagara. Run over to the bed, kneel, and grab his hand. Everyone backs away from him and takes a seat around the room. They all know that me and him were closer than closer than close. I begin to think about the past. When we were younger and we used to play in the yard from dawn to dusk. I began to zone out and just focus on the good times.
All of a sudden I am pulled out of my trance.
"Get back please, Miss." A nurse say to me pulling me away from Josh.
"HE'S FLATLINING! GET ME THE PADDLES! 200!" A doctor shouts to a nurse, "CLEAR!"
"Nothing!" Another nurse yells.
"300!...CLEAR!"
"Nothing!"
"400!...CLEAR!"
"Nothing. 4 1/2 minutes!"
"500!...CLEAR!"
"Nothing."
"Time of death...2:49." The doctor states.
The room goes silent. All we can hear is the sound of the monitor flatlining(BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!). He's gone he left me. Why did he do that? Why did he leave me? I began to start sobbing. I collapsed onto the floor with my head in my hands.
"Wait!"
