Kirito's POV

"Kirito-kun." A voice trailed, rather ominously.

Snapping our heads towards the voice, there stood none other than the girl we met at the Christmas dance: Masami

"M-Masami-san?" I gasped, staring at her dagger.

"Oh, you remember me, Kirito-kun! You really are sweet, my prince..." Masami giggled, twirling like a little kid, playing with her dagger.

I pulled Emiko close in a protective way, not wanting to get her into any trouble. However, when I looked into her eyes, I saw the familiar crazed and emotionless look in them They were blank and dull and were eyeing Masami's dagger in an aggressive manner.

"Oh, Emiko-san. I didn't see you there!" Masami giggled, "Sadly,I think it's best if you leave. Kirito-kun and I are discussing something. It's rude to listen, you know." Masami suddenly grinned wider, "Haven't your parents ever taught you manners?"

I flinched, remembering Emiko's tragic past (i just realized i made a mary sue omfg i'm so sorry). Mixed emotions started welling up in my stomach. A part of me was angry at Masami for mentioning that. Another was confused if she knew her past. Another was scared that this had snapped Emiko, and she would soon turn insane again, while another just felt sympathy.

I looked down at Emiko, curious of her reaction, but her expression remained apathetic as she stared at Masami. I shook her slightly, but she didn't turn to look at me. Not one glance, which worried me.

"Emiko?" I tried calling to her, attempting to snap her back to reality. But she remained still.

Suddenly, I felt a tug. Emiko let go of my grip on here. When I looked back, I saw her walking towards Masami. This can't end well.

Emiko's POV

"Come on, just one game with her. You hate her, right?"

"Yes, but-"

"Exactly! So what are you waiting for? Look, she even mocked your parents! Aren't you gonna take offense to that?"

"I don't want to kill."

"Oh, dearie, all you need is a little push."

I felt a wave of pain surge throughout my body. Thoroughly and thoroughly, like a thousand sharpened tiny needles piercing my veins, the metal making contact with my blood, the pressure on my skin like a dull nail trying to tear my flesh out, slowly penetrating my flesh. The burning sensation made me want to run around, to see if it would chase away the pain. I could not escape, however, for I am paralyzed in Kirito's arms.

All I could do was stare at Masami, her words clouded and blocked from my clogged ears. The only thing I can hear loud and clearly were voices. Voices from him...

That boy who always wears green. That blonde who had drowned. That boy who could always turn my life upside down. That boy's name was BEN DROWNED.

The laughs he had replayed over and over in my head, until all I could hear was my pulse fastening, the malice he had spread onto me, the life he took from me, everything he did to break me, will soon come into a climax once I bring my sword out.
