James' POV:
I caught Sofia in my arms just as she fell. Dad just stared at Amber and me.
"Do you guys know Sofia?" he asked. Amber and I nodded. I quickly placed Sofia on the sofa. "Dad, meet my...girlfriend," I exclaim.
Dad looks at me, and then at Sofia's mom. Sofia's mom and Dad start laughing like maniacs. "OH MY GOSH! I thought you were being serious, James." Dad says nervously.
Sofia starts to move, and she starts murmuring. "Weirdest dream ever...James was my mom's
soon-to-be-boyfriend's son...that...weird..." She stretched out, and opened her eyes, and saw me. She shrieked."JAMES!" She looked at Amber. "AMBER! THIS MUST BE A NIGHTMARE!" I hold her in my arms. Ms. First gets on her knees, and asks Sofia if she wants to go home. Sofia shakes her head slowly. "I'm fine, Mom. I promise. I swear on those chocolate-covered donuts that you hid in your closet." Then, she covers her mouth, and Ms. First just gets all red.
"Um, James and Amber, why don't you take Sofia upstairs while Sofia's mother and I finish a few things in the kitchen?" Dad asks.
I nod, and lead Sofia upstairs to my room. No, we weren't gonna do any of those dirty things. Amber walks into my room.
"Sofia, wouldn't it be better if you came to my room? It's be strange if you were alone with Jake I his room. You never know what teens these days do."
I smirk. "Sister, if by teens you mean yourself, then Sofia wouldn't do what you do. She probably wouldn't have made out with some dude inside a-"
"STOP IT! Sheesh! If Sofia doesn't come to me, then I must come to her." Amber says, as if she were to save Sofia. Sofia just looks a bit stressed out. As soon as Amber walks out to fix up her makeup, I press my lips to Sofia's. I mean, why not? Sofia seems to be scared at first, but she just goes with the flow. Then she pulls away, and looks into my eyes.
"James, I'm scared. What if-what if Mom and your father were to marry? We would be step-siblings. We probably wouldn't be able to date considering how strange it would look." she confesses.
I sigh. "That won't happen. If it does, I'll be here with you forever." I whisper, leaning in once again. We look into each other's eyes, and then at each other's lips. She wraps her arms around my neck, and I wrap my arms around her waist. "Miss, may I borrow a kiss? I promise I'll give it back!" I whisper as we lean in closer, just a few inches away.
She smiles. "You can borrow as many kisses, but you have to return them."
We close our eyes, and-
"EWWW! You guys had to do this now! Ugh!" an annoyingly squeaky voice.
I look up to a grossed out Amber. I sigh. "Shut it, Ambs. I've seen worse, like that time I saw you and Hans-"
Amber rolled her eyes and shrieked before I could finish my sentence. "Gosh, James! Where are your manners?! We have a guest!"
I ignore her, and push away a strand of hair from Sofia's face, and I kiss her. Can time just stop, and let me enjoy these moments? I don't need anything to change.
