The Book

I was in the library, pouring over all of the werewolf books. The witches told me I hadn't much time left here, so I was skimming quickly. The oldest, thickest book was one of great interest to me. It had everything in it.

I learned a lot about abilities Alphas and Lunas could have.

I turned as someone came into the library, towards me.

"Cassandra!" I smiled, greeting her warmly. "Is this true?" I inquired, pointing to a section of the book.

Cassandra leaned in closer and studied the page. "I have never seen it done before, Arya. But if it is in this book, it is true." she replied, choosing her words carefully. "But that is a very risky task, as you well know."

I closed the book abruptly, dust flying out of it. "I realize that. You won't stop me though, will you? I hate seeing people in pain, and this is not about revenge." I added as I put the book back where it belonged.

"Of course not, it is your life. And I'm glad it isn't revenge." Cassandra said, bobbing her head.

"There's more though..." I admitted, turning back to her. "I don't want them to remember me... Can you do that? Fix someone else in their mind?"

Cassandra let out a soft sigh, and put her hands on her hips. "I suppose I could. They may end up remembering though. And as a word of wisdom, you know what this will mean for you physically, correct?"

I looked her in the eyes, my brown ones meeting her amber ones. "I do. I know what I'm going to get myself into." I replied.

Cassandra closed her eyes to collect herself. "It is time you left, Arya." she said rather guardedly.

"Thank you for your hospitality, all of you." I thanked, excusing myself.

Once outside, Snow trotted over to me, knickering. I leaped onto her back, and she walked off. Once we were out of the coven's boundaries, she began to gallop.

"There's a good girl," I cooed to her.

We made it back to the Reservation in record time; the journey back was much shorter. I opened the gate for her, and Snow went back to the farm.

I sighed and shifted into my wolf form. My muscles flexed and I was off to find my prey.

I let my wolf take over; she knew what she was doing.

I found him in an abandoned building. Which was good, because we could fight and he could die, and nobody could hear him scream. I found him in what must have been an office, because there was a single chair in the room, on which he was seated.

He became much more frail since the last time I had seen him. His face was in his hands, yet he knew I was here.

"James." I growled his name, my wolf begging to take over.

He looked up at me, his face gaunt. He appeared unsurprised, and only sighed.

"Do you know why I have been searching for you?" I snarled.

James looked at me blankly, and I nearly lost it. Yet I kept my wolf in check.

There was a pregnant pause before I spoke again.

"I came to kill you." I simply stated.

Then all chaos broke loose.

James attempted to shift and run behind me, which was the only door in the room.

I kicked the door shut behind me and shifted myself, snarling at him.

I was bigger than him, by what must have been at least four inches. He was all bones; his hips and every one of his ribs were showing.

I snarled at him, bristling my fur. He growled back, and I knew this would be an interesting fight. I was fighting for revenge, and he was fighting for his life.

James leaped at my throat, but I reared onto my back legs and pushed him into the wall. He yelped loudly, and I growled.

He eyed me warily, probably thinking that I shouldn't be able to fight this well.

James stalked closer, but I stayed in the same spot. He lunged at my throat again, and I made a move to stop him, but he quickly bit my tail instead.

I yowled loudly and scratched his face and bit his hind leg in retaliation.

So this wasn't going to be a fair fight...

When he let go with a whine, I shoved him onto his side and scratched along his side. James squirmed underneath my paws, which only made his injury worse. He laid still for a moment, then with all of his remaining strength, pushed me on my own side.

I was quicker than him and landed on my feet, but he managed to bite deeply into my shoulder. I yowled angrily and bit his ear, nearly pulling it off. When he let go of my shoulder, I let go of his ear.

Both of our blood was painting the brown room scarlet.

When James didn't make a move to attack, I raced towards him, knocking him onto his back.

We bit at each other's faces, but I was the one who was able to find his throat first.

I bit down hard, but not hard enough to stop him from slicing open my stomach.

James twitched underneath me, then went still.

I backed off of him, yet he never changed back to his human form. I supposed it was because he was a rogue.

My body popped and my bones broke, reforming themselves. My shift had never been this painful in my life. I was certain that I was about to pass out, but I managed to make it too my feet.

I leaned over James' lifeless body, and pulled his throat out with my hand. I wanted it to look less conspicuous. I pulled out a knife and cut where I had bitten him.

I stood up and left to room, but not before I passed out from blood loss.
