I walked in the familiar door only to be greeted by Annabeth.

"Piper how are you, and why don't you have a place to stay?" Annabeth asked curiously.

"Dad is moving to Victoria and I convinced him to let me stay here, but I don't have a place, because I was gonna stay at a dorm in Goode like everyone else but school doesn't start for-"

Annabeth cut me off
"2 days"
She finished for me.

"Well, come in" she said.

I hadn't realized that I was hovering in the doorway.

I entered their bungalow and saw Athena in the office like she always was.

We headed downstairs to Annabeth's room. The stairs felt soft on my toes the carpet was a soft brown. At the bottom we went left through the hallway that was painted grey, and into the first bedroom.

Annabeth's room was also a grey but a lighter shade. She had maps and blueprints on the wall and a small tv in a box, (old fashioned Annabeth) playing a tape on Athens. I sat at her desk while she took a seat on her long white queen bed.

"Whatcha been doing" I asked

"How's Percy" I smirked at her.

"Ugh there is this girl, who is constantly flirting with him and when he tells her to buzz off she just likes him more!!"

"What does she look like" I asked.

"She has red hair, green eyes, and paints." Annabeth said.

"Her name is Rachel." She added  full of dread.

"Wait so percy is seeing her, or what, they aren't at school yet so unless they see each other around coincidently often..." I asked

"That is the problem she practically stalks him."

"That is... Creepy"

"Percy brought me out on a picnic in the park and right after we got out the food... And candles." Annabeth's tone was getting dreamy which does not suit her.

"He was about to kiss me we dipped in and just as we touched she came up from behind and tapped him on the shoulder asking if she could have a bite."

I was about to ask-

"Yes Piper you heard me right."

Annabeth is amazing he way she can pretty much read minds.

"She walked up, broke up our kiss, asking for a bite of his sandwich."

"Besides from the dreaded Rachel, life is good."

Breaking into a new story Annabeth pulled her hand through her hair as she began.

"We now realize that Rachel doesn't
-can't- follow us past 8 pm. Which is actually a bit sad. Teenagers without freedom just go haywire. Much like how dogs without masters bite, or how Percy without Sally's blue pancakes scavenges for blood. It's the way of life. Anyways..."

Annabeth has a tendency to get off topic and tell you meaningless facts. (Meaningless to me anyways, I noticed).

"Continuing my story... We now plan things after 8 pm and with Rachel gone I get to actually talk with percy about all the things we've done together... The years at our summer camp, our underwater kiss, -I seriously have no idea how we pulled that off without running out of air- or Percy's first day, he nearly got dunked in a toilet. We talk about what is to come, college, the new drama, (that I sadly, can't avoid.)"

"Last night I went to stay at his house, one place, that Rachel is not welcome. I had dinner with him and Sally which is what I have always dreamed of."

Since when did Annabeth want a dinner with Percy and his mom!?

When she noticed me staring she looked at me confused, wait for it... There it is, it hit her.

"No, Piper what I mean is that I have always wanted a family dinner, everyone sits down and just talks, a home cooked meal. I never get those, I love my mom and my dad but they are just never around and I can't have dinner with both together, because they are split up."

Her voice is so longing. Gods, Annabeth is so lucky she has Percy.

"After dinner me and Sally talked and made a pie while Percy watched us, it was amazing! I could never do that with my mom. We chatted about all of the times Percy got kicked out of school or how I was doing. An activity that felt... Motherly."

Annabeth, like I said before is so lucky that she has Sally, the closest thing to a mom that I have is Jane, and she is more like the evil step mom from Cinderella!

"Annabeth you are so lucky I wish I had someone like Percy."

"Piper, you'll find someone how could anyone refuse you?"

"Annabeth it's 6:30 I'm getting a bit hungry, could we go eat now?"

I asked changing the subject.

"Sure, I'll get some take out."

While Annabeth was talking on the phone to the guy at Edo I pulled out my phone and started looking for a job.

After about 20 scrolls on Facebook I found a job working at the radio station, it probably wouldn't pay that well but it would-

"Wow, Piper looking at jobs? That would suit you."

Annabeth was off the phone and looking right over my shoulder at the radio add I found.

"You think?"

"Sure you should go to the interview it's tomorrow morning. I'm sure they would take you." She noticed.

"I do need to pay off school, supplies, and a dorm. I think I'll go, thanks Annabeth." I smiled at her.

I quickly signed up and put in my name for the interview and then shut off my phone.

"How's the food situation?"

"What did you order?"

"2 wonton soups, beef curie, and 2 bubble teas, from the place next door." Annabeth said.

"Sweet, it should be here soon, the beef curie is my favourite."

"Want to go get the plates out?"

"Sure"

With that we headed up the stairs to the kitchen, to get out the plates.

Annabeth's kitchen is actually really colourful which is sort of unexpected from Athena but goes well with the house.

They have blue cupboards and the walls are painted yellow.
As Annabeth pulled down the plates I got out forks and spoons. We just set them at the table when the doorbell rang.

I raced to get it. At the door was a small man with a long wispy goatee, he handed the food and asked for a 20$ bill. Surprisingly cheap. I handed one to him.

I brought the food to the table and Annabeth set it up.
We work well as a team.

After dinner Annabeth and I set up the pull out that was conveniently under her bed frame. We laid out blankets and a pillow and set up for a long night of fun.

We went to the loft outside Annabeth's room, the only other thing on the basement floor and turned on Netflix.

"What should we watch? I haven't seen Mean Girls."

"Noo, let's watch something else like she's the man." Annabeth said.

"Sure that works for me."

"Great, I haven't seen it in forever."

Annabeth grabbed the remote and turned it on.
