"Ah, I can't believe you didn't win! Those dunks were A1, I thought you were taking it all the way."
"It's okay babe, I tried my best. That's all that matters."
"Yeah, you're right."
"So what do you wanna do now? It's Valentines Day and we've got tonight and tomorrow left in Toronto and I wanna explore the city."
"Umm, I don't know."
"You wanna go to the skating rink?"
"Uhh, you know I can't skate Aaron."
"It'll be fun Luca. I'll teach you."
She stared at him and frowned.
"Please Luca?"
She smiled at his childlike actions.
"Alright, fine."
He smiled at her and they went out to the car. Aaron thought that this was a great bonding experience .
"Babe, just hold onto my hands and you won't fall."
Luca tightly gripped his hands.
"Luca that hurts."
"Oh.. I'm sorry. I'm just really scared."
"If you wanna leave we can."
"No, we're already here so let's get it over with."
Staring down at her small frame, he just looked at her. She looked like she'd seen a ghost. The young woman was scared to death. She didn't know why she was so scared, she just was.
"Baby, are you sure you're okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine."
"Okay, don't let go of my hands. Are you ready?"
"Yeah."
They began to glide around the rink. She stumbled a little bit, but she caught herself and smiled.
"Alright, I'm gonna let go now and I want you to skate on your own."
"No Aaron, please don't."
"It's the only way you'll learn, just do it for me. Please?"
"No!" She frowned.
He smiled and slowly let her hands go anyways. Once again she found herself stumbling, but in her mind she kept yelling, "Don't fall, don't fall!" Luca finally got the hang of it and glided all around the rink. She caught back up with Aaron.
"I can't believe you let me go!"
"You skated though, didn't you?"
"Happy Valentines Day punk." She smiled.
