I sigh and am about to answer when Oliver bursts through the door and pushes past me to Reed.

"Are you ready? We have to kill it. If we even have one slip up, we're screwed." Oliver rambles. The other guys push in, making me go farther back and out of the bathroom altogether.

Maybe this interruption was meant to happen. I was going to say yes, I was going to be his girlfriend. Now that I think about this, I realize how stupid I would've been. I hate Reed Lawrence. I hate him as much as anyone could hate someone. I'm not supposed to like my brother's best friend. I've hated him forever and have to continue on.

I leave just as Reed and I lock eyes, walking straight out of the hotel room. I run to Lauren's room, banging on her door. She soon opens it, gasping when she notices it's me.

"What happened?" Lauren backs away so I can walk in.

"He asked me." I sigh and lay down on her bed.

"Who asked you what?" She furrows her brows and sits beside me.

"Reed asked me to be his girlfriend."

Lauren jumps up, a smile on her face. "Are you guys official now?"

"No, Laur. I didn't answer him because Oliver ran in." I shake my head.

"So are you going to say yes?" Lauren frowns.

"The interruption opened me up and gave me a flash of what's real and meant to happen. I have to hate him, Laur. It's the only way." I sit back up and swallow back the tears.

"No. He likes you and you like him. You have to say yes." She shakes her heard furiously.

"I can't." I stand up and look at the time on my phone. "We have to go down for the guys' game."

"Fine." Lauren and I silently walk down with the rest of the girls and sit down in our section, watching the game unfold. We end up winning; per normal. This time, however, our rival teams are holding a party and we're invited. I'm not sure if any of us are going but I do know that I need a distraction as far away from Reed as possible.

When we get back upstairs, I turn to Lauren with a smirk.

"No." She shakes her head. "As much as I love parties, and I do, I just won't go to theirs."

"Come on!" I sigh and grab her arm. "This is probably, like, the only time I'll ever ask you to go to a party with me."

"That is true." Lauren agrees, yet she shakes her head. "I'm not going."

"Fine." I answer, becoming frustrated. "I'll go by myself."

"Don't." Laur pleads, staring into my eyes. "I'm sure something will happen that you'll regret."

"Whatever. Are the guys out?" I bite my lip.

"Ethan said they were going somewhere." She shrugs.

"Great." I take off to my room and quickly find something to wear. I settle with a light blue lace dress and put on Sperry's. I grab my phone and a jean jacket over, walking to the ballroom downstairs, where their party is.

There's people from all of the teams, except my school. I'm not sure why we're so stubborn and couldn't be nice every once in awhile. I turn to walk in when Kent approaches me.

"You came?" He furrows his brows and shakes his head.

"I need a distraction." I shrug.

"You've came to the right place." Kent smiles.

"If even one of your teammates say something about me, I'm out." I raise my eyebrows and walk to the beverage area.

"Got it." He nods and hands me a cup.
