I tap my my foot repeatedly, awkwardly waiting for Reed to come back from the store. He's brought me back to his dad's penthouse and it doesn't leave a nice feeling. I walk around and look at the pictures on the wall of Reed and sigh when I realize it's been 20 minutes.
"I'm here." Reed barges through the door with bags on his arms.
"What are you doing?" I smile and sit down on one of the stools at the counter.
"I'm cooking us lunch." He grins and sets the bags down, taking stuff out and putting it on the counter.
"I didn't know you could cook." I raise my eyebrows and laugh.
"Yeah, ha ha. I can cook better than you think." Reed shakes his head and puts the rest of the stuff away and bags in the trash.
"Tell me again why we're here." I sigh.
"I wanted to make you lunch and plus, we aren't really supposed to leave buddies when we go out." He smirks.
"Sure." I roll my eyes and check my phone for texts from Lauren.
"Uh uh." Reed takes my phone from over the counter and puts it in his back pocket. "This will be peaceful. We have a few hours until your other game tonight. No need for cellular devices."
"Well fine, Mr. Lawrence. This better taste good then." I shake my head and lean on the counter.
"It will." He puts a pan and pot on the stove and starts cooking.
"Did you tell the guys you were coming?" I take a pepper he's cut and eat it.
"I said I was coming, I'm not sure if they figured you were too."
"Oh." I get up and sit on the couch, turning on the TV.
I don't exactly know what this 'fling' with Reed is or will be. After everything that has happened with Kent, I'm not sure I feel up to having an actual relationship with someone I can't trust. Kent is probably talking about our wild night right now and it's practically all I'm worrying about it. All I need is for me to seem even more like a whore.
"You okay?" Reed calls from his spot.
"Yeah, just zoned out. Did you say something?" I frown and turn to him.
"How's your arm?"
I look down at the spot where the hand mark used to be. Now, it's a very pale pink and it's practically gone. "It's okay."
"Good." He continues cooking and I revert my attention to the TV.
After like 20 minutes, Reed calls me over to eat.
I walk back to the counter and sit down. Reed places a plate in front of me before putting another one next to me for himself. He made chicken stir fry.
"Wow, looks good." I look at him.
"I told you." He grins.
"But I didn't taste it yet." I take my fork and shovel some into a mouth. I make a face and swallow it.
"What? It isn't good?" Reed frowns.
I smile. "I'm just kidding. It's good."
"Bitch." He rolls his eyes and shakes his head.
I laugh and continue eating. We're peaceful and everything is great until some people barge through the door.
"Hey Anna, whatcha doing here?" Oliver smiles and runs over to me, eating my food.
"I'm here with Reed." I gesture to him.
"Oh yeah, buddy system." He nods.
I hesitantly nod and look to Reed and he just shrugs.
