Too Young to Die
At that I caught my breath and ran through the hall, but was stopped instantly by a searing pain that ran through me.
I screamed and kneelled down at the tortuous but abstract feeling and looked back to a manic Aradicus.
"Where are you trying to go, Chloe. The fun hasn't even stared yet." And with that he was gone and the hall was silent.
I looked down to where the pain came form and I could see blood trickle from my abdomen. I clutched my core and tried my best to stand up but before I could manage to lift a leg, I was brought back down by another searing pain, this time from my back.
I could hear my blouse tearing and could feel blood escaping me. I cried out as the pain shot through me. Why was he doing this to me?
There was silence again. But it was shortly lived.
There was a crackling in the wood on coming from the front porch. I braced myself for more pain but when the door opened I was incredibly relieved to see Cap.
"Cap!" I called as I ran to him.
"Chloe! What, what happened?" Cap asked as he saw how I looked, no doubt smelling the natural elixir of my blood.
"He's here! Didn't you kill him Cap?"
"I... did. I saw him bleed and heard his heart stop..." Cap said, baffled
Laughter echoed through the hall as Aradicus materialized behind me.
"If you think you could get rid of me that easily, you're sadly mistaken,Capriano," Aradicus told Cap.
"Aradicus..." Cap voiced in heightened confusion.
"Cap, what's going on?"
"Chloe is this the man who was after you that night?" Cap asked, looking visibly shaken.
"Yes. Why?" I asked, more confused as ever.
"He hasn't told you?" Aradicus asked, a dark, menacing laugh escaping him.
"Told me what? Cap what is he talking about. And why can't you come in?" I asked when I saw how he struggle to make past the doorway.
"He needs to be invited in, of course. You don't think I'd kill you girlfriend without making sure you couldn't intervene, do you?"
"Aradicus I swear if you touch her!"
"You'd do what, Capriano? Kill me?"
"Cap what the hell is going on?"
Cap was silent so I turned to Aradicus. A haunting smile stretched across his face.
"I've been waiting to do this for a while. To see this very look on dearCapriano's face. It is quite priceless to see the helpless look in his eyes." He said, psychotically. And with a flick of his fingers I flew back into the floor and the doors shut on Cap.
"Chloe!" Cap yelled in desperation, his fist pounding the wooden door.
"She's mine now," Aradicus whispered in violent seduction as he turned and walked towards me.
Immediately, I got to my feet and ran through the hall and onto the stage. My hands flung the thick, dusty red curtains open and I ran backstage, searching for any possible exit. There was none.
I, however, found a staircase leading to the upper lever of the abandoned hall and took to it without a second thought. As I walked onto the final stair, my hands reached for the doorknob in front of me and opened the door.
