The "angel" floated down in what I now realized was a white bed sheet. I stared in awe at the flying girl while Benjamin looked like he was about to hit the roof! "Felicity Juniper Pickle! What are you doing out of uniform and class?!" When Felicity took of the sheet, she was wearing an old band Tee shirt and baggy jeans. "That old uniform? Hmm.... maybe because some of us use clothes to channel our creativity!" Benjamin sighed. "That may be right Fliss, but we both know you are not one of those people." Felicity laughed. "Too true!" Benjamin's expression turned serious again. "But you're supposed to be in sixth grade math right now! Riddle me that!" She curled one of her dirty blonde braids around her finger. "Pshaw! You, Benjamin Lopez , are becoming forgetful. They say the old are wise, but I think it's the other around for you." Benjamin looked like he was going to throttle her, but he held back. "Just-just tell me." She smirked, Obviously having won the battle. "Fine. Party pooper... Ms. Lento said I could show around the newbies nowadays. To seem friendly." Benjamin huffed, but then a smile grew on his face. "Okay then. You can take over the tour. Next, why don't you show her to the laundry room to get her a uniform. On the other side of the building." Felicity stuck her tongue out at Benjamin. "I'd take her to the dump if she wanted to." Benjamin made a face. I was annoyed of they're bickering. "Ahem! I'm right here!" They both looked embarrassed. "So sorry, Willow. This is our school delinquent, Felicity."
Felicity grinned and noted: "And this is our resident wet blanket/old guy. Benjamin Lopez!" She enforced her words with sarcastic jazz hands. "Well, you two better be on your way. It's a long walk! Oh, and put on your uniform." He left the room with his chest puffed out and a tall posture, as if trying to regain dignity. (Although personally, It was to far gone.) I turned my back as Felicity squeezed into her to small uniform.
"So, Felicity-" She rudely interrupted me. "Fliss. Call me Fliss." Wow, this girl's got attitude! "Alright, Fliss. Why don't you like him?" "Hah!" She snorted. " I don't like anybody."she looked down. "That's why ms. Lento wants me to seem more friendly. Maybe you could beat the record?..." "Record? What record?" She sat down on bench in the hallway and gestured for me to do the same. "The record for being my roommate. Longest anyone's ever stayed Is three months." "Three months?! That's all?!" She didn't answer me but just nodded sadly. We started moving again. Her expression quickly changed from sadness to alarm as all the blood drained out of her face. "Oh crap." She muttered under her breath. "Valarae's squad is here. "Who the heck is Valarae? Don't you mean Valerie? What's her "squad"?" Fliss pulled me around a corner and yanked me down. "No, it's Valarae. You pronounce it with a valley girl accent. And her squad is made up of an eager little sister and a sassy second in command. They think they own the hallways, and almost everyone else does too." "Almost?" She smirked. "There are a few rebels. Like these guys." She pointed to a Quartet of of kids coming the opposite direction that the squad was high heel clicking they're way from. "Ooh, this is going to be good. Past's gang verses the squad! Wish I had some popcorn..." Past's gang was... unexpected. When Fliss said "gang" I thought she meant the kind of guys who would spray paint the side of the principals car. But these kids were all different ages and genders. And three had glasses, two had braces and all four had ginormous backpacks and a book under each arm. They looked the exact opposite of the squad who all had shiny long hair and plaid mini skirts. (Don't forget the sequinned gold stilettos.) both cliques stopped inches away from our hiding spot, but they didn't seem to see us. "Get out of our way!" The girl who was positioned at the top of their little triangle (who I guessed was Valarae) had spoken. Fliss confirmed my thoughts. "That's Valarae." She whispered. The lone girl of of the opposing gang stepped out. She was the only one without glasses or braces and had but a small messenger bag slung over her shoulder. She had short dark hair and a tiny patch of freckles splashed across her nose. "Why should we? I mean, don't we have as much of a right to use the hallway as you?" She talked very professionally, (and in a British accent. ) the one thing that really stood out about her was the two white stripes in her hair. She hadn't chose a skirt like all the other girls I'd seen, but was wearing slacks like the boys. "Because!" The girl from Valarae's squad jumped forward. "It's our hallway! You can't go around here like you own the place." "That's Jackie. She's the sassy second in command." Fliss whispered again. A tiny voice peeped up from the squad."yeah! Scadaddle! It's ours!!" Valarae and Jackie parted long enough to see a little girl who looked fresh out of grade two. "And that's Shonny. Valarae's little sister." And as we were turned away, I saw Jackie throw a punch.
