I woke up with the feeling of something wet on my face. Drool. It all came rushing back to me. After Anika shot down Elle, she had quickly turned her gun on the rest of us. I groaned. I think the gun was some kind of stunner. I turned myself in a circle, trying to get a hold of my surroundings. Everything was dark, and I could only shuffle a few inches before hitting a cold, smooth wall. I couldn't tell if anyone else was there, or if anything else was there. I sat down, my shoulder blades squished against the back of whatever I was in while my knees were digging into my chin. I didn't know how long I stayed like that, but sometime later, I heard the mechanical thump of overhead lights turning on. I could hear the echo all around as the room filled with light. But wait. The room was huge, yet I was stuck in some sort of glass canister. I looked to my left. Willa! I banged my fists on the glass, but she was still asleep. And that meant on my left was- Elle! She was wide awake and we tried to communicate through lip reading, but I couldn't understand a thing. We were all silenced by the loud echo of high heels clicking down a hallway. A woman radiating power strode into the warehouse-like building. She was accompanied by body guards and wore a crisp, clean lab coat. She had round glasses, a high blonde ponytail, and of course, high heels. She was quite beautiful actually, but still extremely scary. "Hello. I am Anastasia Trump." She spoke with a russian accent, and malice in her eyes. She whispered to her right-hand man, and grabbed a clipboard from the side.
"Vell, vhat do ve have here? You seem to be..."
She gazed at Elle, and checked her board.
"Subject 265798."
She walked over to me.
"And you are.... subject 265799."
Willa now.
"You are special..... 2657100."
She backed up to where we could all see and hear her.
"My name.. is Anastasia Trump. My grandfather was a man of great power. Unfortunately, he lost to a very nasty woman in an election for power of the USA. He could of had it all, but he made one mistake. He lost his head in the power. It made him fall and burn. They released tapes of terrible things he said and did. The thing is, he had money. Money is power. power is money. So how do I not repeat the the same mistakes as him? Therapy for one. I won't lose my mind like he did, but I will make twice as much money than he did. You see, I know your 'secret'. And I've found a way to harness your powers so that I can sell them on the black market. I'll make millions, no billions! And it's totally safe."
I felt slightly better about that.
"For me."
She took out some sort of round device with a screen in its middle and pointed it directly at Elle. "Yes... Uh huh... Perfect. Power level 78%." She moved the device away from Elle and towards me. "Power level only 57%?! Oh, 265799. You could be so much more." Finally, she moved the center of the screen onto Willa, and it made a loud buzzing noise. "Interesting. Power level 100%. Let me explain my plan. I have a machine that can quite literally suck the power out of you. I will try it with her first, since she has such a high power level, but if it works, you'll be next. " She clapped her hands and Willa's capsule opened. She fell forward, still asleep. "Darn it! Wake her up!" I cringed as they pulled out something that resembled what Ana had shot us with. They shot Willa with if several times, and her head jerked up with a start. They dragged her off kicking and screaming.
Later, I saw Ana and two other kids come in. The bodyguards had transferred me and Elle into a slightly larger cell together, and we had chatted a little bit. The other two kids looked like brother and sister, both with fierce orangey-red hair. The sister seemed older by several years, perhaps the same age as Valarae. But the younger one was about Ana's age. The three of them disappeared behind a see through glass door. Me and Elle could see them doing something... They were gathering some sort of fireball in their hands, and then shooting it at a target. "Elements." Said Elle.
"One of the rarest form of powers. The ability to harness one of the elements. Could be air, earth, water or-"
"Fire." I said. We sat there for a couple more minutes, until suddenly Elle broke out in tears. "What's wrong?!" I could barely hear her through sobs. "She's going to die! And it's all my fault!" I gently put my hand on her back. "It's not your fault." She pushed it away. "Yes it is! If I hadn't taken your file from the office, riley wouldn't have gotten me expelled and I wouldn't have been afraid to talk to Willa and Willa wouldn't have been in that room!" I gave her a hug, and she didn't resist. I comforted her for a while longer, until we both heard the click of the door opening. A man walked in, and dropped a sopping wet Willa by our feet. "That's it?? She's okay?!" The man scoffed at my questions. "No. These were just the results of minor tests. You'll see the real thing tomorrow. Ms. Trump wants you to watch." The man nudged Willa, and her arm flopped over. "She'll wake up in a while." He closed and locked the door when he left. We managed to lift her on to one of the beds. I did not sleep well that night.
