Caddy. She had slammed the doors shut before I could walk in.
"What the hell dude?" Her hair was wild like she'd been fighting with a bear. I felt stunned at my own words, but she was barely affected.
"I'm not letting you walk into there and get yourself killed. That's total book logic." I sighed.
"I know. But my friends-"
"Were going to get killed whether or not you walked in there."
"What?"
"You really think that she'll just let them go? You walk in there, do the experiment. It works, it's performed on them, and you over and over again until you're too weak to resist and you slowly fade away. It doesn't work, she has no need for any of you and slaughters all of us. Listen, I totally support your decision of saving your friends, but you need a plan first." I nodded.
"Alright. What's our plan?"
"Well, there's cameras everywhere, and if we get caught on one of those, we're royally screwed. But there are several blind spots around here."
"Where?"
After a day of R&R, we were on our feet. Or our knees rather. On our knees crawling through the sewer.
"This is the only blind spot. They don't have cameras here because the pipe floods so often and waterproof cameras are much too expensive."
"Wait, the pipe floods?!"
"Don't sweat it. Anyway, after this, we'll head to the hall. You see, my brother is proficient with robotics. We found materials by the old dump and made these little robot arms that hold up pictures of the hall, so no one suspects a thing. It looks like the hall is empty from the security office. Speaking of which, I've got to tell you about the cycle. Overall, there are 409 cameras all around here. They only have 6 monitors. They have a cycle to rotate which cameras they can see. About 5 seconds per hallway. That means we have a 2040 second chance of getting past the cameras. A little red light comes on when it's recording, so we have a warning. Once we get past the cameras, it'll be your turn to get into the security office. You'll watch everything go down."
"What do you mean "everything"?"
"My disturbance. I'll use a bomb Arson created to threaten them. Then you'll call all the security down to me so they'll be distracted and go save your friends. I'll follow shortly afterwards. Got it?"
I nodded, too stunned to reply. She'd seemed so quiet, but now she'd totally taken control of our situation. That was good, of course. Unfortunately, her only solution to our situation was a very stinky tunnel.
"Ew. This. Is . Disgusting."
"Suck it up. We need to discuss our way into the office. They have headsets in their so we can communicate."
"How about you use your Powers?"
"I could say the same for you."
"Yeah, but I can't really do anything."
"Please. I've heard all about you. Stopping objects in midair? If you can make them stop, you could probably make them go."
" I guess I could make them hover or something... but they have guns, and hovering isn't going to make them give us the guns."
"You put them in the air, I'll start a fire under their feet to... inspire them."
I grinned at her. We snuck around the corner, coming out of the tunnels. I watched for the little light to come on. A red blink. Go time. I ran across the hallway only to find-
