Alex POV

This was one sexy girl. She stood 5"9 which is quite impressive to my 6"6, had dark skin, hair that reached a few inches below her shoulders, beautiful brown eyes with flecks the color of honey, and a nice curvy figure.

I knew she was my mate because when I saw her my wolf was screaming at me to claim her. I could tell she didn't like being in groups and would perfer to be alone but I wasn't going to let that happen.

We started walking and when we reached the pack house I watched her expression to see if she was impressed but all she did was roll her eyes and sigh. That's a first.

"So where are you from?" I asked.

"I was born in Saint Louis but while I was still in my first form of my third year my parents moved to Chicago and handed the pride over to my uncle."

"Why?"

"Reasons and that's all you need to know!"

I winced slightly but my wolf was begging to get out teach her to respect us.

She hasn't done anything.

But what is she trying to hide!

I don't know.

Well find out!

I ignored him.

We walked inside and was greeted by my mother. She was talking to Rick's mom who is mated to the Beta. Rick's also my best friend and he found his mate a year ago.

"Hi honey. Who is this?"

"This is my ma- I mean friend. She's trying to get in contact with her uncle James Waterson. She said he owns territory here."

"I've never heard of him but talk to your father. He might know him or know people who know him."

I nodded and took her hand to lead her upstairs only to feel shocks which led to desire coursing through my veins. Her eyes widen and she snatched her hand away. She muttered curses under her breath and sighed.

"Could you show me to the bathroom?" She sounded like she was going to cry.

I nodded mutely and led her to the bathroom on the second floor which was right across the hall from my room. She went in and slammed the door quite hard. Damn. What's wrong with her? Why isn't she happy?

I ran my hands through my hair. What did I do wrong?

Alyson POV

I walked in the bathroom making sure to slam the door. Why?! Why did the Gods do this to me?! Why is that dog my mate?! This wasn't suppose to happen but it just had to happen to me!

You're probably thinking that I'm overreacting but I'm not. If you met any other panther and told them you were mated to a werewolf, elf, dwarf, or vampire you'd get laughed at. But rejecting your mate is frowned upon and it could get you kicked out of your pride and you'll be a total outcast.

Not only that I also have a boyfriend in Chicago. His name is Derek and he can shift into a lion. His pride accepted me after what happened to my parents and after getting to know each other we started dating.

My phone rang and without looking to see who it was I answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hey babe. How ya doin' so far?"

"Derek?" He said after 3 weeks he would call me and then come visit. Why is he calling so soon?

"Yeah babe?"

"Why are you calling so early?"

He chuckled. "Well to my father's urging and the pride's as well I decided to call you sooner. Even though I told them you were perfectly fine. Did you find your uncle yet?"

"No not yet. But I have to go so I'll talk to you soon, alright?"

"Sure babe. Love ya."

"Love you too."

I hung up, checked my reflection in the mirror, flushed the toilet, and got out of there. That is until I crashed into a wall and felt sparks. I looked up to see a very angry... wait I didn't even know his name.

"What's your name?" I asked.

He looked surprised and then smirked.

 "Alex. Alex Morrison. What's your's?"

"Alyson Doheara Waterson."

"Well that'll change to Morrison pretty soon."

I laughed. He didn't have an effect on me at all.

"We'll see about that Mr Alpha-to-be. Now can you show me to your father so I can leave and never see you again."

Hurt flashed in his eyes but I didn't feel guilty. Not even a little bit.

He clenched his fists in anger and gritted his teeth.

"Follow me."

He started walking down the stairs and I followed.
