My alarm on my phone went off scaring me half to death. I popped up out the covers really fast hurting my head. Ahh Fuck! I sat there with a blank face and confused. How the hell did I get here? My mind was blurred and I didn't remember what happened last night. I had my shoes and clothes on still in the bed. They smelled like stale weed and my breath smelled like pure liquor.
I climbed out the bed to look to see if Faith was still in the apartment. "Faith?" I waited for a response but she didn't answer me back. I figured maybe she already left for work. She worked at her friend Charlotte’s beauty salon and sometimes took the early shifts but damn, I didn't think girls got hair cuts at seven in the morning. I still stayed in my bed just thinking...like now what? I knew I had to get ready for work but... fuck it. I was a wreck. I wanted to call out of work so bad but we needed the money so I forced myself out of the bed to wash up. After I rinsed my face, I looked up in the mirror to see that not only did my head hurt but my eyes were blood shot red. I dug deep into the medicine cabinet and searched for the eye drops. When I found it I squeezed the drops into my eyes, they started to tear up a bit but I just hoped that the redness would eventually fade away.
I wasn't at a normal fast pace today. Everything just seemed extra slow around me except for the time. I looked at my phone screen to check the time. It was eight fifteen. Damn, I was really dragging my ass since I got out the bed. I finally decided to throw on my work uniform and leave the apartment quickly but not so quickly.
I stuck the key into the ignition to start up the car. I could feel that the heat was starting blowing against me making my body warm up instantly. Still waiting for the car to get a little warmer, I looked at the window and I could see that the frost on it was slowly disappearing. Ahh I thought, the cold month of November. As I began pulling away from the apartment my phone started going off in my pocket, it was Jeremy. Even though I knew it was illegal to use your phone in the car I took the call anyways. "Hello?"
Jeremy-"Yo Abel my man! I checked out your video this morning, you got seventy eight views!"
Abel
This nigga was excited over seventy eight views? To me seventy eight wasn't much of a number. "Really? That doesn't seem like a lot Jeremy."
Jeremy-"Well, I just uploaded the video about eight hours ago. Seventy eight is a good start. Aye at least the people are watching it. This one person even commented on how much talent you have."
Abel
For some reason that took me by surprise. "That's great. Let’s hope that the views and good responses keep coming."
Jeremy- "Hell yeah! Of course they will!"
Abel
When I finally got to the mini mart I rushed out the car to hurry up and open the store. "Thanks for the notice. I just pulled up to my job and I got to start getting it open. I'll talk to you later."
Jeremy-"Yeahhh, I gotta start getting read to go to my job too. I'll keep you updated though. Talk to you later."
Abel
I hung up the phone and unlocked the door to get inside the shitty place. I walked over behind the register to see that last night Curt left it a mess. I swear the dude wasn't the correct working material. I looked up at the clock to see what time it was. Eight thirty. Phew, I made it just in time even when I was dragging. I had a few minutes to kill so I stepped outside the door to smoke a cigarette. I took the cigarette out the brand new Marlboro pack and lit it up. The cold air of Toronto hit against my face making goose bumps visible on my skin. Damn, why was it so cold today?
