Chapter 10

" morning kittycat." Darry said as I walked out of my room and into the living room. "What time is it?"I said sitting on the couch. "10 in the morning." Darry said flipping the newspaper to the next page. "Did anyone call?" I said having a little hope that maybe Dally called to say sorry. "Sorry Kitten , he didn't call." Sodapop said drying his hair as he walked into the living room. "Oh." I said lowering my head. "Can I go over to Kate's?" I said pulling myself off the couch. "Sure just be home by 4." Darry said placing the paper next to him. "Thanks." I said heading to my room to get changed. The walk to Kate's was short and quite. The whole walk I was just thinking of Dally and wondering why he didn't call. "Hey is Kate home." I asked her little brother who  answered the door. "Yeah I'll go get her wait here." He said closing the door to go get Kate. "Hey." she said coming out the door about 5 minutes later. "What do you want to do?" She said as we walked down her drive way. "Wanna go to my house and make cupcakes ?" I said lighting up a smoke. "Sure." She said walking backwards. "What's wrong though?" She said placing her hands on me so I'd stop walking. "Nothing." I said pushing her hands off my shoulders. "That's a lie Kitten, something went wrong last night.  Right." She said  crossing her arms and stopping ones again.

"Fine!" I said giving up and sitting on the curb. "Now spill." She said plopping next to me. "Well last night when I went to the  Carnival with Dallas , he left to go help Buck and Tim fight some Soc but he didn't come back. I said wiping my tears away really fast. "Oh Kitten I'm sorry." Kate said giving me a hug. "It's fine , this is Dally were talking about I should have known this would have happened." I said standing up and bushing the dust off my shorts. "Let's go make some cupcakes." Kate said hoping as she walked next to me. "HOW COULD YOU JUST FORGET HER." We heard Darry yell as we  walked to the door of my home.  "I DIDNT MEAN TO AFTER THE FIGHT ONE OF THE SOC CALLED THE FUZZ." Dally yelled back at him. "YOU SHOULDNT HAVE GONE TO FIGHT ANYWAY." Sodapop yelled. "come on Kitten well go down to the dingo I'll buy." Kate said trying to pull me away from the door. "No." I said with no emotion. "Baby." Dally said coming forward to hug me as I walked in the door. "Don't." I said as I steped aside. "See she doesn't want to see you." Darry said crossing his arms. "I never said that." I said giving Darry a dirty look. "Why don't you go see Ponyboy, Kate." Sodapop said as he saw Kate standing  awkwardly in the door way. "Sure." She said  scurrying passed us. "Now sit Dallas." I said pointing to the couch giving him now  expression. 

"I want to know what happened after you left." I said standing in front of him. "After I left you there , I wanted to go back but Tim wouldn't let me. When I got to the lot were Buck and then we're walking I knew I couldn't fight, but I did anyways. After the fight one of the People that lived next to were we were fighting  called the fuzz so I booked it with Buck and Tim back to Bucks place. It wasn't till I got there I remember you. I didn't mean to forget you I just didn't want to go to jail over some stupid fight I didn't even want to be in." He said placing his head in his hands. "Oh." I said plopping next him. "That's still no reason to." Darry said before I cut him off. " Just stop it." I said standing up. "Not everyone as prefect as you Darry." I said throwing my hands in the air. "Kitten calm down." Sodapop said. "No I won't calm down , gosh Darry you think everyone just has to be prefect don't you? But it was  totally OK you should up late for pizza isn't it?" I said  raising my eyebrows. "Now I never said that." He said trying to  defend himself. "Okay." I said rolling my eyes. "Don't you get sassy with my Kittycat , you  keep this up and it's off to a girls home. "DARRY!" Sodapop and Dally said taking back by what he said, "Oh my god Pony was right you would send us away." I said  crying as I laughed. "What was I right about?" Ponyboy said coming out of his room. "Darry would send us away." I said laughing even more. "What the hell Darry." Pony said giving Darry I look that could kill. "I didn't mean it. I'm sorry I was  caught up in the  moment ." Darry said stepping closer to me. "But that means you've thought of it before." I said  as the shock factor of it  set in. "I have but that was before Sodapop had a job and its was just me bring in money." He said pulling me into his arms. "But I never go thought with it I promise Kittycat I'd never send you and Pony away." He said crying. "I guess I forgive you then. " I said letting my self hug him. "I'm sorry though Kittycat mom should have been  so ashamed of me for saying that ." He said not caring he was crying. "Now do you forgive me too?" Dally said  scratching the back of his head. "Yes dally I do." I said rushing into his arms. "I love you Kitty." He said into my hair. "Love you too." I replied softly. "Well I'm glad everyone is good now." Sodapop said giving us he's famous smile. "Um Kitten are we going to make cupcakes?" Kate said holding Ponys hand. "No just go with him." I said laughing. "Thanks I promise we will make them soon though." She said as her and Pony took out the door. "Hey you wanna go to the dingo for a make up date?" Dally said fixing his hair. "Sure , Darry can I have some money?" I said knowing from what just happened he'd give me money. "Sure , have 5 bucks." He said grabbing it from his wallet. "Thanks." I said giving he a kiss on the  cheek. "Let's go." I said heading out the door. "Man I love you." Dally said as I hoped on his back as he walked down the stairs. "I know." I said placing my head  and between his neck and shoulders.
