Cynthia and John were wed on the twenty-third of August, 1962, at Mount Pleasent Register Office in Liverpool. George Harrison and Paul McCartney attended, along with the Beatles manager, Brian Epstein, who was also the best man.
No parents attended the wedding of Cynthia and John, but that was just fine for the both of them. There was no party or immediate honey moon - nothing sappy or romantic. On September 16 the "newly weds" took a trip to Paris with Brian Epstein (who was not invited).
During her Cynthia's pregnancy, Brian Epstein offered the couple the use of his flat at 36 Falkner Street. He later paid for a private hospital room when the pregnancy was creeping into reality. Although still completely unknown outside Liverpool, the Beatles had a fandom of following girls in the city. Brian wanted the Lennon's to keep the pregnancy a secret, so the truth would not upset any of these fans. When the pregnancy news was leaked, the fandom denied it. Cynthia was happy to keep a low profile.
The Lennons' son, John Charles Julian Lennon, was born at 7:45 am on April 8, 1963, in Sefton Hospital. John, being on tour at the time, did not see Julian until three days after he was born. When he finally arrived at the hospital, John said, "He's bloody marvellous, Cyn! ... Who's gonna be a famous rocker like his Dad then?"
