chapter 13

Maddi has to stay the night at the hospital because of her recent surgery but regardless she wouldn't leave Lachlan's side. Maddi and Thomas didn't sleep a wink all night from worrying about their tiny little baby boy.

''What did we do to deserve this?'' Maddi says as she looks at Thomas with tears in her eyes

''Nothing babe'' Thomas says as he grabs Maddi's hand They sit holding hands watching their baby boy struggle to breath. Thomas watches Maddi as she looks around the room like she is trying to put a puzzle together. 

''Babe you need some sleep'' Thomas says

 ''I can't sleep they said he might not make it through the night I need to spend as much time with him in case he doesn't make it.'' Maddi says as she stands up placing her hand on the box that her baby Lachlan is lying in.

''Lachlan Hunter Stone is a fighter he will make it, he will grow and he will have a full and happy life'' Thomas states as he approaches Maddi placing his hand on top of hers. 

The night goes by slow and Maddi and Thomas talk about random things that has happened

''How did one of the best days of my life turn into a wreck?'' Maddi states staring deeply into Thomas' eyes

''Our wedding will always be the best day of my life and think about it we get to share our beautiful day as our sons birthday forever now'' Thomas says Maddi smiles and stands up pulling her chair closer grabbing Thomas hand as she sits down and they just sit in silence.

''Thomas I'm bleeding'' Maddi says Thomas runs out of the room grabbing the first nurse he sees.

''MY WIFE IS BLEEDING!'' Thomas says as he grabs the nurses arm

''Okay sir it will be okay lead me to her room'' The nurse says calmly Thomas walks the nurse into the maternity ward and points to Maddi

''Hello miss my name is Lucas and I am here to help, now what's the problem'' He calmly says

''I am bleeding'' Maddi says as she pulls her blood soaked shirt off revealing a bandage with blood leaking out of it

''Okay now I am just going to have to remove the bandage okay'' Lucas says

''Okay'' Maddi says reaching for Thomas' hand The nurse removes the bandage as blood runs down Maddi's stomach

''It looks like you have pulled out some of your stitches and that's no big deal, if you could come with me to the backroom I can fix you up'' Lucas says

''No I can't leave Lachlan I need to be with him'' Maddi says as tears escape her eyes

''Please could you maybe just stitch her up in here, he was born 10 weeks early and he might not survive and she is very emotional and has had no sleep for the last 10 hours.'' Thomas begs

''Okay only this time though'' Lucas says as he runs to get his equipment Lucas fixes Maddi's stomach and put another bandage over it.

''Now please be careful'' Lucas says smiling 

Thomas sits down in the chair next to Maddi and grabs her hand and kisses it

 ''Now you know that I love you to the moon and back a million times'' Thomas says

''Of course'' Maddi says staring into Thomas' eyes

''Now we have a beautiful boy the we will love until the end of time'' Thomas says staring at Lachlan. 

Thomas and Maddi watch Lachlan until the sun rises letting light fill the dark room. Maddi stands up placing her hand over the box with her baby inside.
