Your POV

I wake up the next morning to a nice day. I want to train. My dad wanted me to be a guard, like him, so he trained me a bit. I was good enough to beat some of the boys in the village, who had a parent who trained them. I put on a f/c tee shirt, s/f/c (second fav color) shorts, matching combat boots and my cloak. I grab my dad's dagger, which inspired many dad jokes, and head out. I bring some food and water to drink just in case I stay out for a while. I walk to the gate. I see Laurence up there.

"Hey Laurence! Can you open the gate for me?" I call up.

"Are you leaving F/N?" He asks.

"I'll be back. I promise." I say.

"Ok. Since you promised. You know, you look stunning in that cloak." I shake my head, but I do smile. He opens the gate. I head out and go into the forest. I see no one so I take the dagger out of the holder.

V/N is known for the gold we have. They seem to be the only ore in there sometimes. My dad was the next in line for head guard, so his dagger was special. Every guard gets a basic one. More is added onto it has the guard moves up in ranks. My dad would have gotten some design on his dagger for being so high up. Wait. I can't think of him past tense. He could be still alive. Him and mom. They survived, they had to. I just know it.

I practice my form on some jabs and blocks. My form was always the first thing I had to improve. Apparently, someone noticed.

"Your feet are too far apart." I hear. I jump and look in the direction of the voice.

"Garroth! You scared me! Don't do that again!" I say.

"S-Sorry F-F/N. I d-didn't-" he says.

"Calm down Garroth. I don't mind. Plus, if you're sooooooo smart at this, show me." I say, offering the dagger. He comes over and takes it.

"Like this." He shows me the correct way. He seems to be in his element.

"That's how I was doing it!"

"No. Your feet where to far apart. You try." He gives me the dagger back. I copy what he was doing.

"Let me help you." He says. He moves my arm up a bit and tells me to move my feet closer together. I do.

"See. That's how you do it." He says.

"Show off. Hey Garroth? Why the heck are you in the middle of the woods?" I ask.

"Oh! Umm.... I-It's n-nothing. Umm... Do you want to practice fighting?"

"Sure." The fight is a tough one. I can't beat him as easily as the boys in my village. Plus, since I have a dagger I have to move in closer. I wish this was a sword. I think to myself. It grows in size and becomes one. Garroth is distracted by it. Good. I knock him off his feet. His foot hits mine and I fall too. We fall down a hill. His helmet comes off and almost hits me. But I avoid it. We finally get to the bottom and by that time we are both red as a tomato. Why? Because Garroth landed on top of me so I'm staring into his beautiful, blue eyes that outshine the sun. Wait! What did I just say?

"G-Garroth. C-Can y-y-you g-g-get o-off m-me p-please?" I ask.

"S-S-Sorry F-F-F/N." He says and gets up. We walk back in silence cause we are both red as tomatoes. Before we go in, he starts to put his helmet back on.

"Wait! Don't put it back on. I want to se your smiling face." I say, blushing as red as Mars.

"Ok." He says. "Did you know your dagger could do that?"
