    Pain.

    Confusion.

    Nothing.

That was all the description she could say.

It felt as if acid were burning away her life force.

Everything was so confusing, and she felt disorientated.

And she also felt nothing. No matter all the pain and confusion, it still felt like nothing.

She was going to die in the fire of the Forbidden. Why did she ever trust Vuldrix? Who knows why she was pushed into the fire - perhaps as a sacrifice, perhaps to just kill her, and that would revive him. But...he wouldn't. Vuldrix was like a god in the phoenix world, and if anything, a god should protect his own. So what did he mean?

She spread out her wings, and tail, and embraced the fire. If she was going to die, then die in a heroic posture. The fire seared her wings, and it felt like a bunch of swords cutting up her body. Yes, this is what Forbidden Fire felt like. Take my life away, Forbidden. I do not want to suffer any longer.

Just as she felt the last of her life force bleed away, the pain stopped. Canyon opened her eyes, and saw that she was encased in a strong, golden glow that warmed all through out her body. This felt miraculous.

Am I dead? Is this what the Phoenix Heaven feels like?

She was jolted from her thoughts as she heard a voice yell at her - Ice Talons. "You idiot, Vuldrix! You ruined my perfect plan!"

Canyon adverted her gaze, and saw through the glow that indeed Ice Talons was there - right next to the Forbidden, fluttering up high. Miraculously, she was not fried to the bone. Instead, she seemed to be fighting away the fire of the Forbidden. Ice Talons started towards them, and when he came within ten wing beats, Canyon felt a surge of energy and anger. She called up all of the fire in her, and breathed a vicious plume of red, white, and blue fire at Ice Talons. His eyes widened, and he tried to back away. Too late. He saw hit squarely in the chest, and was thrown back to the ground. He crashed at the Forbidden's talons on his back, and lay still.

Canyon looked back at Vuldrix. "How did I do that?" Her voice now sounded more flowing, sounding like three Canyon's speaking at once. "And why am I not dead?"

Vuldrix stopped at once what he was doing. Two other phoenixes were beside him. "You are the Hybrid Phoenix in the prophecy, Canyon. I am giving away my life force to you to complete your destiny. These phoenixes here -" Talios and an Ice Phoenix had their wings spread out, as if embracing something. "- are my trusted comrades."

"Why would you give away your life force for me?" Again. Why did everyone give away life forces for the greater good?

Vuldrix laughed. "So you may defeat Ice Talons and the Forbidden! Only the Hybrid has the power to defeat strong forces! And if three phoenixes of the elements fire, water, and ice gather around and give their life force away to the Hybrid, then the world will right itself again." He paused. "Now don't you want to fight evil? Let's get to it! And don't mind us; we're going to be okay." He then stopped talking, and also took the same embracing formation as his comrades. The color of each phoenixes' elements flowed out of them, and into Canyon.

Canyon nodded respectively, not completely sure, and turned towards the Forbidden. She didn't know how, but right when she thought of a weapon, a sword with an eagle at its base appeared before her. Without hesitating, she grabbed it out of the air, and pointed it solemnly at Ice Talons, who unsteadily got up from the ground. He flared his wings, and looked up at Canyon, pupils dilating in fear.

With a voice that resounded for miles, she yelled, "Ice Talons! You have trod upon our territory, and killed many! I have no reason to spare you! And so, your time has come!" She spun in the air, flicking stray embers off of her wings. "For I am the Hybrid Phoenix!" She felt a deep rumbling inside of her, and felt a flash as her wings started to shimmer. Her wings started hum. When it settled, she looked at herself. Her right wing was blue, and her left was red. Her talons were red, but her body was white. She was part Water-X, part Fire Phoenix, and part Ice Phoenix. She was a Hybrid. She was the key to saving the world. And she would use herself wisely.

She shrieked, and a blast of colorful flames burst from her beak. Her wings swept water from them, and when she flew, white ice energy crackled behind her. She was truly the Hybrid Phoenix. She was going to complete the prophecy. That was why she wasn't killed when she was in the vicious blizzard, and why she didn't die from being blasted by water from the enemy Water-X! That was because she was someone connected to several other phoenixes.

Excited, revived, and in a mad rage at the enemies, she aimed her sword at Ice Talons, who was desperately trying to fly away. The Forbidden shuffled nervously on their great claws, black magic swirling around them. They had stopped breathing their terrible fire. "Perish, Ice Talons! I wish to no longer see you anymore!" Warm energy flowed through her body, through her muscles, making her feel stronger. Her eyes glowed, and her sword glowed. When she built enough energy inside of it, she released all of the energy. A meteorite of colors burst from the point of the sword, and quickly zoomed after Ice Talons. He roared, and flew straight towards it.

He was done. He knew it was going to happen. So why suffer when the results were the same?

The now white fire hit him in the head, and instead of flashing, it went inside of him. He roared in agony, closing his eyes. His body stopped in midflight, trying to control the Hybrid Fire. He opened his eyes, and they glowed. His body twitched viciously, and he was pushed back by an invisibly force. He fell at an impossible speed, and hit the ground where the Forbidden came out with a sickening crunch. He roared one last time, and his body flashed. Moments later, his body wasn't there. He simply vanished from sight. Ice Talons was no more.

Canyon sighed in relief. That's one enemy down. Now I have three more. She turned towards the Forbidden. "And you! Ice Talons has released you, and there is no doubt that you will cause more trouble! And so, you may as well be vanquished!" She channeled the same energy through her body, straight to the sword. With pleasure, she saw that the Forbidden were frantically taking flight. She shrieked in delight, and shot another burst of her Hybrid Fire at the Forbidden.

Their eyes widened in fear as they saw it approach them. They took to the skies, great wings creating tornadoes of wind. But the fire kept coming. Just as was about to hit them, the creature on the back of the leader of the Forbidden rose. "I will not go back to the deathlands of our previous realm! We are now free, and will now have that taken from us again!" And the tiny thing gave a chant, and from its scepter, an orb glowed - the same orb that was once Ice Talon's so called weapon. Once she stopped chanting, a bolt of lightning shot out from it. As it met with the Hybrid Fire, it swallowed the fire up. There was a bright flash - so bright that Canyon had to close her eyes. As she opened them, the Forbidden were gone.

How had the creature on its back countered off the Hybrid Phoenix Fire?

That was supposed to be impossible.

But the war was done, and she finally completed her final destiny - to be a Hybrid Phoenix.

First, though...she must organize all of the scattered phoenixes and dragons - allies and enemies alike.

Canyon took one last look at where Ice Talons had vanished, and frowned.

Ice Talons had disappeared without a single trace.
