Galvin walked silently down the hall as caper departed. His life had just taken an enormous turn. Yes, he had made new allies, but he had also placed himself in a dangerous position. Galvin was now the main opponent to the Fallen King. He roamed back into the throne room and stared at the soldiers. "Throw the dead king off the nearest cliff and burry the commander. We will soon be preparing for war." Galvin stumbled down the dark corridors with doubt clouding his mind. He slowly let sleep enveloped him.
"Sir, there is a problem in one of the villages." The phoenix stated.
Galvin tipped his head back and groaned. Problems, as if there weren't enough already.
"They are really going to have to work this one out themselves, Darwin. However many chickens were stolen are need to be repaid in labour. I need to find the wolves."
"It involves the wolves sir, and some bigger issues."
Galvin groaned again.
"Fine..."
"And one more thing...."
"Yes?"
"You have visitors."
"Make them wait."
"Yes sir."
"Thank you Darwin."
Galvin departed rather quickly and flew off to settle the dispute, war was hard enough, without the added tension in the kingdom. He set down in the villagers and immediately noticed the angry villagers, and the wolves.
"What's going on here?" Galvin asked as he calmly strolled into the midst of the fight. He looked towards the villagers and calmly awaited for a reply. One of the other dragons stepped forward and spoke.
"Your Majesty...These...reckless brutes raided our stores of meat." He said gesturing to the wolves.
"Is this true?" Galvin asked turning to Caper.
"Yes, it's true." He relied tensely. "But we are starving, food has fled, and winter is fast approaching."
"They attacked us!" The villager spat. Galvin looked towards Caper and raised the silent question.
"Not before they killed two of us, two of my own family." He growled in return. "We originally tried to negotiate but these damn thick-headed imbeciles refused to change their minds." Caper stood there growling, all his will bent on retaining his patience. Galvin stood there silently struggling to untangle the mess of the situation, and to understand what he had been told.
"You killed them?" He asked softly. "YOU KILLED THEM?! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT!" He yelled out.
"They're animals!" The villager defended.
"Apparently no more then you are!" Galvin retorted. He struggled for a moment in an effort to calm himself. "Caper and his family have been an enormous aid to me, and a friend. You had no right to kill any of them, just as you have no right to kill any of your kind. Murderers pay more dearly than thieves." He stepped back and looked at both of them. "In compensation, your storerooms will be open to the wolves for anything they might need from this point forth. If I ever hear of another issue like this again, the punishment will be according to law. I am letting this one slide due to pressing circumstances, we cannot afford any more population decline due to these outbreaks. Not again, understood?" Both parties nodded in their agreement, and Caper's cousins were buried on the edge of the woods.
"Caper, you need to come with me."
