The first targeted city loomed in the distance. Darien's army maneuvered towards all the key strategic positions and awaited orders. Galvin sat down beside the fire. The military encampment was impressive, but he wondered if it would be enough. Darien sad down beside him.
"This is your war now. The troops await your command."
"I never wanted a war."
"I know, nobody did."
Galvin watched the sparks fly in the air, he gazed around at each of the different encampments, he could see seven fires...but there were only six camps.
"I think we've got company."
Almost as if in que, Darwin landed in front of him.
"Sir, there is an enemy encampment demanding a parley."
"They wish to put their words before their swords. Perhaps we can negotiate something." Darien said. "I think you should agree."
"Will you come with?"
"No, it's best they don't know I'm with you. Take Caper."
"Alright. What should I do?"
"Hear them out, the rest is your call."
Ten minutes later, Caper and Galvin stood out alone in the middle of the darkness. Footsteps sounded signifying the approaching party. A tall, thin dragon stepped out of the gloom. He was wearing a pointed steel helmet and came alone.
"Surrender your army and leave in peace." He commanded.
"That's what you wish for us to do? We came all the way out here just for you to tell us to do something we're not going to do?" Caper asked.
"You will die trying to capture this city."
"M'kay..." Caper stared ahead dreamily.
"Turn back now. You are surrounded and outnumbered." this time he spoke to Galvin.
"Naw...I don't really feel like it." He said following Caper's footsteps.
"You stand no chance. Order your troops to step down!"
"When can we kill him?" Caper asked Galvin.
"I'd say now's as good a time as any."
"What were you thinking!?" Darien thundered. "You insulted our opponents who clearly have the upper-hand and you violated the rules of a parley! You probably destroyed all of our future chances of parley as well! Caper, explain your logic for us."
"Well, I happened to know that we were not surrounded...so I called his bluff. We are going to capture the city anyway, it shouldn't be so hard."
"An attitude like that is going to get you killed."
"We'll see about that in a few weeks time. I suggest we attack, Dragon?"
Galvin nodded and gave a few brisk orders. Darien sulked back to his tent muttering to himself while the six encampments prepared for battle.
Galvin rallied his troops and made way down to the battlegrounds, he had plan to meet the opposing army in the field, but they were one step ahead of him. Flaming arrows rained down on them setting the cotton tents ablaze. Caden took his division and captained the counterattack while Sage played the part of offense.
Galvin and Caper rushed to the forefront of the battle, their goal was to end the battle and take the city as quickly as possible, avoiding the need to lay siege.
