Everything was still and silent. Darien's forces had moved on but Galvin stayed put. He knew he would have to fight again, but he just couldn't. He had lost his best friend, and now he felt like there was nothing else left to fight for, but he knew it was his duty to protect the innocent.
"Sir," a voice sounded.
"Yes?" He asked, a small messenger stood before him. The boy looked intimidated, like he never saw a dragon before, even though half his fellow campers were dragons themselves.
"We received word from your kingdom, they're wondering when to mobilize."
"I sent Darwin ages ago to tell them!" He roared. The boy started to shake a bit. "Go fetch him."
"Yes sir."
A few moments later the large red bird stood before him.
"You summoned me?"
"Why didn't you deliver the message?"
"I did."
"Then explain to me why an army of wraiths showed up instead of my own kind." He growled. A familiar glint in his eye caught Galvin's attention. He recognized it. It was he same look his father had when he went mad. "You..." He breathed, growling deeper and quieter. "You brought them here."
"The war must end."
"TRAITOR! MY BEST FRIEND DIED BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU ENDANGERED HUNDREDS!"
"I did what I had to do."
"You, you sicken me. I would have you punished for insubordination but that alone isn't enough. Get out of here. If I ever see you again I will personally murder you. I trusted you...GET OUT!"
The bird flew off. Galvin stood firm and barked orders. His rage now became his driving force. We strike now he silently resolved. The king will fall, and he will have his revenge on those who wounded him.
