Chapter Seven:
Taylor’s POV
I woke up to sun streaming in through the windows. I rolled over and rubbed my eyes, sticking my glasses on. The room sharpened into focus and I saw Meredith lying right by my head- a few more inches over and she would’ve suffocated me- and Maia sleeping on the couch. All of a sudden, last night rushed back to me. The hate, the crying, Maia, the speech, feeling better. Then, our Law and Order marathon- Maia was totally hooked now thanks to me.
I smiled, thinking back to last week. I had been in Nashville to catch my breath, get a break from everything, and had gone to the Bluebird Café since it was open mic. I remembered walking in as a girl wearing one of my shirts took the stage, singing “SuperStar.” It sounded amazing and as soon as she sat down, I tweeted, wondering just how big of a fan she was. Once I had tweeted she had jumped up, announcing to the café that I was in Nashville, sounding very excited. At that, I had tried not to laugh as I made my way to her, noticing she was sitting in the chair with my name engraved in it.
She had a fanpage and everything! I loved my fans. I knew inviting her along for a few concerts was a good thing to do. For both me and her. She had made me feel so much better last night, I couldn’t thank her enough. I grabbed my phone, snapping a picture of her before tweeting it.
@taylorswift13: this awesome girl made me realize you guys are always here for me, I love you! Thanks for making me feel tons better @manderson13
I attached the picture of her sleeping and tweeted it. A second later her phone buzzed and I looked at it, curious. It was twitter… notifying her that I had tweeted. Aw. A minute later she rolled over, lazily grabbing her phone, looking at it, smiling and pulling up the picture before she realized that it was of her. When she realized that, she looked around, slightly disoriented before her eyes landed on me.
“Taylor… why would you tweet a picture of me sleeping?” she asked carefully, a smile creeping up onto her face.
“Cuz you’re adorable! And you helped me feel tons better last night,” I told her simply.
“I love youuu,” she said sleepily, closing her eyes and falling back asleep on the couch.
“I love you too,” I whispered, climbing out of bed.
I looked at the clock: 8:45 AM. Okay… why was I up this early? I shrugged, going over to pick up the phone to order room service. Once I had ordered pancakes, bacon, fruit, and cereal I sat back down on my bed, looking at Twitter. There was lots of love, lots of freaking out over my last tweet, and there was some hate but I ignored it… just like Maia told me too. There was a knock on my door and I opened it, expecting room service but instead getting… Amos, Grant, and Caitlin.
“Hey, guys,” I said, stepping aside so they could come in. “Be quiet, Maia’s sleeping.”
“Isn’t she across the hall?” Caitlin asked.
“No, we ended up having a Law and Order marathon over here last night,” I said guiltily, smiling.
“Taylor, Taylor, you’re corrupting a poor, innocent, girl!” Amos shook his head.
I laughed, “Um, she watched it willingly!”
Maia had won the hearts of the Agency and had also been very starstruck when seeing them for the first time. She knew all their names… she even remembered Al and Liz. And she asked Amos if he still shared headbands with me. That was from the vlog days. She brought back so many memories from the teenage years and I loved her for it. Every once and a while, I needed to be reminded of what it was like to be a teenager and how hard I worked for all of this.
Maia yawned, slowly waking up and immediately Caitlin ambushed her, making her scream.
“Ah! Assault! Assault!” Maia screamed, laughing.
“A pepper! A pepper!” Caitlin replied.
Two meals, and five Law and Order episodes later, it was time to go to sound check. Maia went into her room and soon reappeared wearing a Red tour t-shirt, shorts, and red Keds. She had a glowstick around her neck.
“You look like a crazed fan,” Grant said, looking at her.
“I know. I’m going to go around before the show, talk to people, and figure out who should be invited to Club Red,” she explained. We were doing Club Red again because Maia just loved it so much and… I couldn’t tell her no. So, once in a lifetime chance here.
“But, don’t you think they’ll know who you are?”
“I’m going to wear my glasses,” she replied, pulling out nerdy/hipster glasses. “These are actually what I have to wear but no one has seen me with them so yeah.”
“Good luck with that,” Amos said and she nodded.
“Let’s go!” Caitlin groaned, waiting by the door.
We all filed out, meeting Ed Sheeran in the lobby.
“Eh, what are you wearing?” Ed asked Maia.
Maia rolled her eyes, “I’m posing as a fan. Well, not posing because I am one and this is a lot less than I wore to the concert in Pittsburgh!”
“She’s going undercover to find out who the super fans are,” I explained and Ed nodded.
We all piled into the car and started driving towards Gillette Stadium for the second time.
“Let me out here!” Maia screamed as soon as the stadium was in view.
“What? Why?” my mom asked as the driver slammed the breaks on, startled.
“Because if I’m seen getting out of the car with you it’ll look weird! This is about where I was let off for my concert so let me out!”
“Wow, you’re really taking this thing seriously, aren’t you?” my mom asked.
“Only the best for Swifties,” she replied, climbing out of the car. “See you once the doors open!”
I smiled, watching her start walking. She was really determined to choose the best fans for Club Red. Lately, I had been depending on Management to choose the people for Club Red with my mom and I had noticed the decrease in Swiftie-ness in the fans that had come in. I was glad to have a Swiftie help choose because she knew what it was like to be on the other side. Soon we started driving again and she disappeared, blending easily into the crowd. She looked like just another fan.
