I am working as a Caregiver. I had a couple in the nursing home, they shared a room. Every morning I would go in and get the wife washed up and dressed and in her wheelchair while the husband got cleaned up in the bathroom, then he would get in his wheelchair and push her in her wheelchair to the dining room for breakfast. I offered many times to push her to the dining room for him, (can you imagine being in a wheelchair and trying to push another wheelchair? He would push her a little and then wheel himself a few inches forward, push her and then wheel a few inches forward) he always refused my help "I'll do it myself" he would say. Finally one day when I offered he looked up at me and said "I love her, she's my wife, I want to do what I can for her, don't you understand? Please, I will push her". OH MY GOD, I had to go to the bathroom to cry. So sweet. Such love!
