I was woken up from my couple hours of sleep by a pair of lips pressed against mine. I opened my eyes to see Niall's face hovering over mine, a sleepy grin plastered to his face. He had his bag slung over his shoulder, he was leaving.

I wasn't quite conscience when we were exchanging goodbyes, all I remember is there was a lot of hugging. We said one last 'I love you' and then he was out the door. I knew I would see him afterwards..but it's if I will have a limited amount of time with him when he's back. I also knew that this next school year was possibly going to be hell without Niall with me. With that thought, I was passed out yet again.

I woke up a second time that morning when I heard my phone going off. I squinted at the screen to see a text from Niall, saying the had made it to Dublin alright. It went off yet again in my hands.

(Received Text from Niall: 7:35am): "Just in case you're still in bed, go look on the kitchen counter. xx"

I groaned as curiosity got the best of me, rolling myself out of bed. I stumbled to the kitchen only to find a single envelope on the counter. I opened it to find a note.

I unfolded it only for a small silver pendant to fall from the paper's folds. I picked it up from the counter and examined the charm carefully and saw it was a tiny star.

It was gorgeous. In the middle of the tiny star was a diamond. Necklace in hand, you started reading the note Niall had left for you.

"My dearest Cara,

I bought this necklace around the time you moved in with us last year. I never understood WHY I bought it, I just had a feeling that if need it sometime in the future. It's been sitting in a little box in my room with no purpose, until last night. I'm giving you this necklace for two reasons.

One, you're going to move away from Mullingar one day and become something big. Whether it be a writer or performer. You are so amazing at both, I know this for a fact.

And two, I want you to think of me whenever you're wearing it and know that no matter how far I may go in this competition, you will always be my number one priority. You will be the light in my life that keeps me grounded no matter what happens after today.

I love you and I always have and always will. I'm just sorry it took us this long to figure it out.

Xx, Nialler"

A single tear fell from my eyes and hit the note. I felt my lips curl up as I carefully folded it back up and started examined the necklace a little more. I clasped it around my neck and the cold charm fell to my chest. I walked back to my room to get ready for work, thoughts running like mad through my head. Some selfish part of me wanted Niall to get sent home. But then it occurred to me that he deserved to go far in this competition. And I knew that no matter where life takes him he will now forever be mine.

I walked to the local coffee shop where I was working for the summer, and passed by the old street where I used to live. Memories of what happened last night flooded in my mind, but I took in a deep breath, held it, and ran past the street as fast as I could, chocking down my emotions.

But as I ran past it, something seemed... Off about the street. Like something didn't belong there. No matter, I pushed the thought to the back if my mind and continued on my path to work.

Work was slow. I was just counting down the minutes until 5:00. That, and I was waiting for a text from Niall... it could be about anything. I just wanted to hear from him. I played with the necklace that laid on my chest, tracing every small detail with my fingertips. That's when my phone went off. I looked to see I finally got my message from Niall.
