I looked up to see Niall's face two inches from mine, his face expressionless and his jaw clenched.
"You don't mean that." he whispered. I couldn't breathe, let alone reply. His face grew redder by the second, the longer I said nothing.
"TELL ME YOU DON'T MEAN IT, DAMMIT." he was now screaming at the top of his lungs, still inches from my face.
My eyes squeezed shut and my fists gripped my hair, yanking trying to take my mind off everything about this situation. His hot breath hit my face. I took in a shaky breath, trying to form a sentance.
"I-I don't really love you." I repeated,
"I f-felt bad about having a p-panic attack around you. I felt like I owed you in s-s-some way. So I kissed you. I-it meant n-n-nothing." I sniffled, drawing in another shaky breath.
"I meant to clear things up with you the next morning but I woke up to find the necklace and the note and I was stuck. I didn't know what to do. I figured that I could drag you along until you left for bootcamp, then when you left you'd just forget about me." I took a deep breath, choking back to tears that were threatening to fall.
Niall's empty gaze fell from me to the star lying against my chest. His hand rose up to the charm, covering it, then clenching it in his fist. He yanked his arm back, breaking the chain from around my neck, throwing me forward to the ground. There was a slight stinging sensation where the chain had broken.
I placed my hand on the spot, then pulled my hand away and examined that it was covered in blood. Niall stood up straight, looking straight ahead, and he threw the necklace down inches from my face. He turned to walk out of the room when I finally spoke up again.
"Niall," he paused underneath the door frame, not turning any part of his body, but he was listening intently.
"I'm leaving tomorrow." His head jerked to the side, a pain expression on his face.
"I believe it's best not to tell you where I'm going, but it's somewhere you won't be able to find me. Just know that I'll be safe."
"No you won't. You were only safe with one person, and that was me. Now you've burned that bridge down to the ground." he spat at me before he continued to walk away.
"I'm changing my number," I announced, standing to close the door,
"I don't want to tempt you into contacting me. I'm not going to be the one holding you back, the one keeping you from reaching dream." As soon as the last sentence was out in the open, I immediatly regretted it.
Niall spun around, realisation plastered on his face. I quickly slammed the door shut, placing a chair that sat by the door underneath the knob so he couldn't break down the door this time. His fists pounded against the door, pleading for me to open up. I turned around, my back to the door frame. I slid down to the floor, my head in my hands, as I sobbed frantically.
"Baby, please," Niall cried out, "Please just open the door. We'll talk about this. You aren't holding me back. You're the reason I'm doing this. You encouraged me to follow my dreams. Please. Don't leave me.. I need you."
I threw my head against the wall, trying to stop the tears, but they were inevitable.
"Please, Ni.." I whimpered, "Please don't make this any harder than it is.."
"YOU!" Niall suddenly screamed, "Did you put her up to this?!" I could only assume Bobby had appeared in the hallway to check on the situation.
"Lad, you wouldn't understand, you never would in a million years. Let her go.. It's for the best. This isn't my doing. She has no choice but to leave us, it's out of my hands." Bobby explained. And with that, there was a slamming of the front door and I could only assume Niall had stormed out of the house. I heard Bobby let out a deep sigh, then walk up to the door and whisper, "I'm sorry", through it to me.
