The Morning After

"Oh my god," Xiumin was the first to reach the table, of course, and when he did, he was practically drooling a pond.

Laid out beautifully on the table was an extravagant breakfast. What made it all the more special was that it was American style. There were pancakes, waffles, toast, French-toast, scrambled-eggs, sunny-side eggs, hash-browns, bacon and the list was never-ending. Meals at the Wu's house were always top-notch.

The other boys dashed to the bathroom and sinks to wash up and being the smart little dumpling he was, that had been the first thing Xiumin had done when he woke up, which ultimately meant that he was the first one to stuff his face with the delicious food.

"Dude, hurry up before Baozi eats it all!" Luhan urged the others.

"There are five of us in here, what do you expect?" Kris rebutted as he continued to brush his teeth.

"By the time we finish there won't be any food left for us," Chen grumbled after gurgling and spitting out the water.

"It's a good thing we have our toothbrushes here," Myungsoo whispered, squirting toothpaste onto his and then Miyoon's. They were currently in the kitchen, cleaning themselves up.

"I knew it was going to be like this," she replied as she scrubbed her pearly-whites, leaving a minty aftertaste.

The night before, Miyoon had a feeling this was going to happen therefore she had decided to leave their toothbrushes and a tube of paste in the kitchen so it would be easier for them. Sure, there were multiple washrooms in the home, but they were located all too far for them to reach the table in time.

Miyoon shook her head as she heard Kris and the boys babbling and complaining to one another in the bathroom. Dorks.

When she was rinsing her mouth, Myungsoo bumped their hips, causing Miyoon to stumble to the side. She furrowed her brows and returned the favor. This time Myungsoo landed on the floor.

At the table, the two youngest discovered Xiumin hiding behind a stack of pancakes. There was a chunk of butter resting at the top, beginning to melt as it oozed down the side along with the dripping syrup.

"I'm guessing that's not your first plate," Miyoon teased as she took a seat next to him. Xiumin grinned at her with his mouth completely stuffed. She turned to Myungsoo to find him placing waffles on his plate and French-toast on hers. Next he grabbed three slices of bacon for them both, then a sunny-side egg for himself and scrambled ones for Miyoon.

They weren't called best friends for nothing; Myungsoo knew almost all of Miyoon's likes and dislikes, habits and trivia. But the one thing he didn't know was probably the most important.

"Thank you, Myungsoo oppa," she squeaked shyly, picking up her knife and fork.

"Hold on, I forgot the syrup." He panicked. He scurried off into the kitchen and returned moments later with a small saucer. He took the syrup and poured it into the dish. Another habit he picked up from Miyoon was that she preferred dipping her French-toast instead of drowning them in syrup. "There you go," he beamed, tousling her hair. "I forgot how cute you looked with bed-head."

For a second, Miyoon was in a daze because of Myungsoo's thoughtfulness and him thinking that she was cute. She was grinning to herself without even realizing that the others had arrived.

And then the last part of his compliment echoed through her mind. Miyoon swiped up her spoon and stared at her distorted reflection. Her hair was disheveled with random parts sticking out here and there.
