Depression, Crushed Souls, and a New Plan of Action
Emma walked in silence, thinking about how her life was falling apart.
The walk to her house was long and boring, with not much to see. She walked with hunched shoulders and dragged her feet depressingly across the hard paved sidewalk. She walked unusually slow and with an unsophisticated gait. As she walked leaves crunched under her feet. Each disheartening crunch reminded her of how her life is a lot like those leaves. Everything is fine and dandy until someone steps on it and crushed your soul.
Sure she can read a book in a day and answer every math problem right from now until the end of time, but the one problem she wanted to solve was how she could win back Will's trust. I also seemed to be the only problem that she couldn't.
Emma closed her eyes and started to cry. She couldn't take him being mad at her all the time. There was only one thing that would make him happy. She had to get Annabelle to go out with him.
As she thought about this idea she walked into the middle of the street, eyes still closed. She stopped at where she assumed was the middle of the street and kept walking. She thought as she walked about how she could get hit by a car and what kind of person might find her lying in the street. And she wondered what they would think of her, if they would feel sorrow or pity.
She opened her eyes, but there were no cars in sight.
"Damn." She said aloud.
